Dinte

Dinte is a mainly Human, Elvish, and Dwarvish Kingdom located near the border of the Pillar forest. Before The Arrival Dinte was once a major industrial hub of the Xosutan Empire, and in fact the rare metal found here is one of the reasons why the Xosutan Empire was so dominant on the continent. Although the Empire is generally remembered as a highly magical organization the citizens of Dinte tell a different story, perhaps a more accurate one? In Dinte the rare metal known as Dinterium, from which the nation derives its name from, is extracted, this material has the unique property of dimming magic itself.   Dinte's major export is dinterium, although the Queen of Dinte only allows a certain amount of refined dinterium to be sold to other nations by weight. This is due to the fact that the Queen wishes for Dinte to remain the foremost users of Dinterium in the world. The reason the dinterium refined in Dinte is so valuable is because even a pair of bracelets made of thin bands of this material is enough to prevent a spellcaster of casting any spell of first level or below, but a pair of thick shackles would be enough to prevent a caster from casting fifth levels spells and below, even when high level magic is used around dinterium the metal itself seems to lessen the effects of this magic, and grows hot enough to burn any creature in contact with it. Dinterium can be found in thin bands of ore across the world of Tirestir, but the refining processes of Dinte are said to produce the purest form of the metal.   Dinte uses this refined dinterium to create shields, weapons, and dinterium filigree for things like gates and armor. This use of dinterium makes spellcasters thing twice before challenging the forces of Dinte, whose warriors can withstand fireball blasts and whose blades can siphon the magic from within the body of a spellcaster.   Dinte has a strained relationship with the elves of the Pillar forest, a war between the two nations over two hundred years prior resulted in a large swath of the forest burning to the ground, and Dinte claiming the lands and rich ash soaked soil for themselves. Some say the Elves of Pillar wish to retake this land, or repay the slight against the forest they hold dear, but the valuable metal keeps them from striking against them, although recent shipments of weavestone, dinterium's opposite, into Pillar suggest rising tensions may be at a boiling point.   The citizens of Dinte pride themselves in their crafts with smiths, toymakers, artificers, woodworkers, and any sort of skilled craftsmen making up what may be a noble class in any other society, with people like librarians, historians, wizards, and philosophers making up a small middle class within Dinte society.

Fauna & Flora

Dimsteel Drake   The Dimsteel Drake is a fearsome creature that inhabits the rugged lands of Dinte. These dragon-like creatures have scales infused with dinterium, giving them the ability to dampen and resist magical effects. Their metallic hides reflect and absorb magical energy, making them highly resistant to spells and enchantments. Dimsteel Drakes are known for their aggression and territorial nature, often guarding the rich dinterium mines that dot the kingdom. They possess sharp claws and a breath weapon that emits a searing heat, capable of melting even the strongest armor. The people of Dinte revere these creatures, often harnessing their scales and bones to forge powerful, magic-dampening armaments.   Dinterian Scalehound   The Dinterian Scalehound is a unique creature found exclusively in the kingdom of Dinte. It is a large, predatory animal with a sleek body covered in scales that shimmer with a metallic sheen. These scales, infused with trace amounts of dinterium, possess the remarkable ability to dampen magical energy. The Dinterian Scalehound's presence can disrupt nearby spellcasting, making it a formidable adversary for spellcasters. The kingdom of Dinte has harnessed these creatures for their own advantage, employing them as guardians and protectors of their valuable dinterium resources. The Dinterian Scalehound's scales are also highly sought after by artisans, who use them in the creation of magical artifacts and enchantments.   Emberthorn Vine   The Emberthorn Vine is a rare and intriguing plant native to the lands of Dinte. It is a climbing vine that thrives in the ash-soaked soil resulting from the war between Dinte and the elves of the Pillar forest. The vine's most distinctive feature is its thorny stems, which are imbued with a natural heat that can reach searing temperatures. The Emberthorn Vine's thorns can burn and scorch any creature that comes into contact with them, providing a natural defense against potential threats. The vines are harvested and carefully cultivated by the skilled woodworkers and artisans of Dinte, who use them to craft intricate and formidable weapons, such as fiery whips and blazing arrows. The Emberthorn Vine serves as a symbol of resilience and strength in the kingdom, embodying the spirit of Dinte's indomitable craftsmen.
