Sol-Ra, God of the Sun
God of the Sun
Sol-Ra appears to their followers as a tower monolithic figure with burning red and yellow skin, a crown of golden rays, wielding a spear of luminous light. Their figure exudes the brightness of the sun, and even gazing upon them can blind you, being at all close to this avatar can turn stone to lava, and flesh to ash. They are revered and feared by those who know of their history. They are known to be a force for warmth and light upon the world, but also one that will reign down unrestrained destruction upon those who cross them. In the past, they have caused events called daybreaks, where all beings, structures, and living things in a certain area that are exposed to sunlight all melt and burn under his gaze. Despite this, he is still worshiped as one of the key gods in the pantheon for his role in the ecosystem of the world.
Sol-Ra was the primary deity worshipped on Tirestir in long past millenia, when tribal humanoids made sacrafices in his name, and prayed for the light of the sun to grace them every day. He ruled as the head of the pantheon when Agnovimus, God of Preservation turned to seclusion, but in time the mortals who revered him began to take his presense every day for granted, and new more popular gods overthrew his popularity. Sol-Ra became part of a caste of gods respected for their great power, but rarely revered in any sort of daily practice, alongside Agnovimus, Tempus, God of Time, and Aurdu, God of Nature.
It is said Sol-Ra once murdered his wife the moon, although this is a tale told over millenia, and has no witnesses, even among the other gods, who will confirm or deny the tale.
