Tempus, God of Time
God of Time
Tempus appears to their followers as a mechanical figure, humanoid in appearance with an owl-like head, within a cavity in their chest beats an ancient heart that has cogs spinning in its flesh, and blue glowing blood flowing out of it and into their clockwork body. One of the first gods in existence, they have children with both Vatia, Goddess of Life and Shezarr, God of Darkness and Shadow. Time and the passage of events existed before Tempus, though he that gave order to them, made it so that time was a force that always marched forward. All people who keep time or develop the means to create clocks and calendars do so from the subconscious guidance of Tempus. They are sometimes called the ever-present, the ticking god, or the silent god as it is incredibly hard to get into contact with them, and even rarer for a cleric of Tempus to exist at all, despite this they are given a shrine in almost every city. They are also one of the gods that oversee all attempts at time travel from beings other than sphinxes and the like. A caster looking to travel through time must first have the spell casting approved by Kilo, God of Magic, and the time manipulation approved by Tempus, who is then responsible for negotiating with The Three about the changes this will have to fate, to avoid the wrath of The Furies against the caster. Though Tempus has been known to allow time travel despite objections from The Three.
Tempus has been known to meddle in events on Tirestir on a few events in the past, such as freezing time for an entire city as punishment for a transgression long forgotten, or even a time where they turned time back a decade, erasing many lives, returning many to life, though leaving the memory of the decade alive in those who survived the event. Tempus since these grand interventions has become a distant god, and it is believed they little interfere, or their intereference has become far less obvious.
