Queen Nyssa Tiriande, the Bloody
Queen Nyssa Tiriande, also known as Nyssa the Bloody, was Queen of Tiriande between x and y.
Her coronation was the result of much debate; her predecessor, king Eanfleth, had no surviving heirs, his brother no children, and his sister's children inbred. The decision to give the crown to Nyssa, the daughter of a self-declared propher who was, in turn, the daughter of the exiled princess Sybel, was a last resort.
During their generations in exile, Sybel and her descendants had turned to piracy. Her husband was a fellow pirate, an elf named Viktor Malik. The couple had three children, though the youngest two songs both die in a naval battle before the family's return to prominence.
During Nyssa's reign, she personally funds and occasionally accompanies merchant caravans intended to find an exit to the surface. Unlike some of her ancestors, she is succesful, appearing in x from a spontaneously appearing crack in the cliff wall on the Boneyard level that would come to be known as the World Crevasse.
Nyssa's reign was notoriously ruthless. When a peasant rebellion made an attempt on her life, she burned down the entire neighbourhood around the assassin's home; when a nobleman insists her daughter marry his son, she shoots him in his face in the throne room.
Her later years as monarch see her change drastically, with her earlier bloodlust replaced with a quiet introspection. She donates vast swaths of her money to the victims of her own previous actions. According to court records, she claimed to have had a vision of the future.
Queen Nyssa dies at the hands of an assassin. Some say she did not resist.
