Callisto

Demographics

Callistonians represent a slice of the world. The majority of inhabitants are humans, but there are many other races in the town. Most Callistonians are working class, as there are a multitude of farms in the area that supply the region with food. Most successful farms hire locals to do the work, which keeps the employment rate very high. Almost everyone in Callisto is employed by the farming industry, entertainment industry or the mines that are in the nearby mountains.

Government

One mayor runs the city with overwhelming support from the constituents. The town has yearly elections, however no one runs against the current mayor as he is widely considered to be doing a great job. The crime rate in Callisto is quite low and there are few, if any, guards around. This allows the tax rate to be quite low, allowing farmers to keep the majority of their profits and pay their workers a more than fair wage. The laws stem from an old text that has not been updated in hundreds of years. Most legal conflicts in Callisto stem from property or land disputes. All laws are clarified by the mayor.

Defences

Callisto is essentially undefended. The town is far too spread out to erect a wall and with the farming industry thriving, very few people have interest in a guard position. The low tax rate also means there is not a lot of wealth to pay the guards with, so the few guards there are have to be highly skilled.

Industry & Trade

Callisto has acres upon acres of farmland around the city proper, which it uses to trade with the rest of the region. Callisto essentially feeds the entire region.

Infrastructure

Entrepreneurs who attend Callisto are likely to try their hand at the entertainment industry, as the economy in the area is thriving. There is also plenty of land to use for farming and crops take to the local soil better than any other area, however, the land now must be cleared and exists a ways from the city proper.

Architecture

The town resembles a gothic western frontier town with roads that simply lead out of the city. Most buildings are made with wood, but stained or painted dark colours with steep, pointed roofs. The roads are dirt and tend to become extremely dusty in the heat. At night, the town is extremely dark, as no torches are lit. The farming community tends to put in hard hours during the day, so there is very little in town for a nightlife.

Natural Resources

Callisto sprouted up from within a forest and has been cutting out sections of land for farming since it was settled. Callisto is also near the base of the mountain range, so it is associated to the mining industry. Finally, the soil in the area is the richest soil in all the land, which results in high yields of crops consistently.
