Bastia

Bastia is a term meaning "sacred urchin". It is bestowed on orphans who're taken in by the temples of The Tinavri in Velnar. In repayment for the blessings of their benefactors, the Bastia don red tunics and go out into their communities to help in various ways. Many seek to act as guides to newcomers to town, assist the elderly with chores and shopping, pick up litter, and generally make themselves useful.
In smaller towns, there may be few Bastia, and their red tunics may be well-worn and patched, having been handed down over many years. Larger towns, such as Jaipal, may have many Bastia, and their tunics may be rich fabrics and decorated with many bright beads.
