Bessie is a macetail behemoth in the possession of the Fire Wasps who took her after a battle with slavers and brought her to the Old Manse in Seowyn's Crossing. Under the tender care of Corran Ostler, their groom and stableboy, she has become a docile farm animal, trained to the plow.
