Eye of Vecna
When the ancient Lich Vecna was betrayed by his lieutenant, the vampire Kas, most tellings of the tale agree that only Vecna's Eye and Hand remained. Both items were taken away and preserved by Vecna's disciples, imbued with foul magics and some of the Lich's indomitable will and vile purpose. The Eye has appeared in a number of tales, but few agree as to its properties. What all agree on is that, to use it, the wielder must be missing an eye, or must remove their own eye. When Vecna's Eye is pressed into the empty socket, it begins to operate as a normal eye for the wielder, but it gives other powers as well.
Most tales use the Eye of Vecna as a cautionary tale, suggesting that imbues its wielder with clarity of vision and powers of prophecy, but at terrible prices, often showing them terrible things that ultimate lead to the madness and downfall. Most tales also agree that the Eye and Hand of Vecna were linked together and that, together, they are more powerful than apart. Some even suggest that if one mortal was imbued by both the Eye and the Hand, they would become fused with Vecna's soul, corrupting them into a new vessel for the lich. Thankfully, this has yet to occur.
