Vecna

Vecna is a figure of nightmarish legend in the annals of Tol's history. Born as the seventh son of one of the noble houses of ancient Falwyth, Vecnarius Lotol knew he would never rise to political power by virtue of family. Instead, he became a Wizard and rose to some power. As he aged, however, he began to fear mortality, and he ultimately found his path to becoming a Lich. During these magical studies, he took a young Tiefling under his wing named Acererak. He also penned a volume of necromancy and prophecy that has become known as the Book of Vile Darkness.
Once empowered by his undead might and vast magical ability, he employed a powerful warrior largely known as Kas to command the armies he was able to raise. He created a powerful Sword for Kas to wield, and, when Kas was almost slain in battle, Vecna helped the warrior across the threshold of life and death, transforming him into a vampire. Kas and his armies, combined with prodigious magical powers, allowed Vecna to overthrow the King of Falwyth and take control of the kingdom. He then began the conquest of all of Keshwan, matched and battled by the Dragon Emperor of Azmartheon. In the end, for reasons not well known to most, Kas betrayed Vecna, and their battle wreaked terrible destruction. Kas was completely destroyed, and all that was left of Vecna was a Hand and an Eye.
Vecna's legacy is one of darkness and necromancy. Rumors rise from time to time of Vecna's return, but, so far, none of these rumors have been verified.
