Lycanthrope

Lycanthropes are creatures who’re believed to have originated in the more savage places of the Feywild. Their natural forms are hybrids of humanoid creatures, mixed with an animal. The most common varieties are wolves, tigers, rats, bears, and boars, although there are many other less common pairings.
Lycanthropes possess the ability to shift between their natural hybrid forms and the forms of either of their two parent races, such as Human and wolf. In early superstitions, it was believed that those bitten by a lycanthrope fall under a curse and become a lycanthrope themselves. It is now known that this is not true, although some lycanthropes can spread a disease which causes the victim to behave in an animalistic manner.
Some scholars believe that the race of Shifters is born of the union of human and lycanthropic breeding. There is no common consensus on this.
