Phoenix Guard

The Phoenix Guard is an elite fighting unit of Summerlund soldiers. Some are commoners while some come from the nobility. Most of the Guard consider themselves equals, if not brothers. The guard was founded during the First Witching War by King Aldwyn Tarmoore, who considered himself the first member of the Guard, and all the other Guardsmen his brethren.

Today, the Phoenix Guard patrols the borders and roads of Summerlund, keeping its people free from the depredations of bandits and monsters. Some do so out of a sense of chivalry and duty. Others inherited the position along with a noble title. Some gain a sense of privilege and entitlement and can be almost as bad as the monsters they fight. An Encounter with the Phoenix Guard can be inspiring or disheartening, depending on the Guardsmen one meets.
