The valley called Sigrond’s Challenge, named for
Sigrond Eight-Fingers, holds an important place in the political succession process of the
Jarl of
Norhast. Whenever the Jarl of Norhast dies or willingly surrenders power, a great moot is held in the valley, and any
Hastane, male or female, is allowed to compete for a chance to be the Jarl.
