T'ualo Clan
The T'ualo Clan is a clan of Catfolk located in the
Woods of Jira
The T'ualo (family) Clan is the only clan of Catfolk that is made up almost entirely of one species of Catfolk, the Leonins. Other species of Catfolk are very far and few inbetween and oftentimes the Prides will go an entire generation without having a different species in their Pride. Those of other species that do end up in their Prides often face much scrutiny to the other Pride members but once their worth is proven are accepted as one of their own. Typically when this happens it is because they performed a drastic action such as saving a Pride members litter, performed a life saving medical action on a leader, or some other incredible action that brings the leader of the Pride to offer a place in their Pride.
The T'ualo unlike other Clans, is made up of 3 different Prides which are basically just smaller clans which all assemble under one larger leader that represents the Prides to other clans. Each Pride is made up of around 2-5 thousand individuals and is typically assigned a major role to fulfill the T'ualo's needs.
The Sharp Tooth Pride is in charge of the hunts for the Clan and is the smallest of the Prides. They gain most of their food from the roaming dinosaurs that venture across the plains grazing but also get food from smaller less dangerous creatures such as cape buffalo as well. Due to their assigned role in the Clan they are typically a roaming nomadic people.
The Warm Paw Pride is the largest of the Prides with typically close to 10-15 thousand, and is more suited towards the crafting, farming, kit-nursing, and upkeep for the Clan. Unlike the other two Prides this one remains in the center of the Jira Plains at Sun Rock to take care of the kits as well.
The Iron Claw Pride is the military arm of the T'ualo Clan and typically around 5-10 thousand strong. Since the Catfolk rarely have lasting fights is typically tasked with making sure the routes for the grazing animals stays open and isn't being used by bandits or other unwanted guests as a place to hide or use for smuggling.
Culture
The T'ualo Clan prides loyalty and teamwork above all else. T'ualo in feline directly translates to family and the Catfolk of the tribe hold that in the highest regard. Due to their highly organized heirarchy compared to the other Catfolk Clans, the T'ualo are the majority of the power in the Woods of Jira and act as such. They are quick to offense and oftentimes like to settle things in a fight. However, once it's over it is settled and it is considered a great offense to continue to harbor a grudge for a settled matter.
It is common for members of all the Prides to participate in a ceremonial Hunt as well. This Hunt is important for the members as it gives them a chance at a young age to show their bravery, fortitude, and determination, along with skill in battle and preparation as they are sent out with a shield, dagger, and spear to take on a carnivorous dinosaur of their choice. Those that do well against an especially dangerous dinosaur are typically granted entrance into the Iron Claw Pride, while those that show more skill in their preparation or aftermath of the kill will look favorably in the Sharp Tooth or Warm Paw Pride.
After a member performs the Hunt they are allowed to keep their T'ualo Clan Shields after it is repaired if need be. This shield is meant to be carried with them forever and to be passed onto someone when they are deemed worthy of it but is not beholden to kin of any sort so that it is rather granted by merit and not luck of birth.
