Characteristics

Physical features

His body is covered with crystalline scales of pure silver. His body shone with shifting colors that change constantly from blue to silver as his is surrounded by Weave.

Lair

Coldarra is a floatting island to the north, home of the Nexus, it is inaccessible without the ability to fly.   Malygos, the Dragon god of magic, resides within the Nexus, a towering structure located in the center of the mystical island of Coldarra. The building appears to be partially floating, a testament to the immense amount of magic that permeates the island and the Nexus itself. The Nexus serves as both the source of magic and as the physical lair of Malygos, who acts as its keeper and protector. Inside, one can find a maze of halls and chambers that house powerful magical artifacts and ancient tomes of arcane knowledge. The Nexus is a place of great power and danger, and only the bravest and most skilled spellcasters dare to enter.

History

Dawn of the Dragon Gods

In Toriel's ancient past, a young dragon named Dralad, brother of Alexstrasza and Ysera, disappeared. Concerned for her brother's well-being, Alexstrasza seqrched him, eventually crossing paths with Malygos. Together, they encountered a dragon afflicted by a disease but managed to fend off the threat. Following this lead, they eventually discovered Dralad, lifeless.   Like the other dragons of that era, Malygos would gather under the command of Talonixa to combat Zuth. Zuth, a primordial dragon afflicted by a disease, grew stronger with every dragon he consumed.   When Ysera stood up to talk with Talonixa, treator used this occasion to join Zuth. Malygos witness of the betrayal and subsequent devouring by Zuth, would return to the others only to find Ysera and Talonixa in conflict over the fate of those afflicted by the disease.   As Zuth commenced his assault on the dragon army, the three dragon gods—Bahamut, Sardior, and Tiamat—observed the conflict with keen interest. In due Time, Malygos found his way to Alexstrasza and Ysera. Malygos afflicted by the disease briefly succumbed to the hunger for flesh, attacked Ysera. However, thanks to Alexstrasza's intervention, Ysera managed to snap Malygos out of his frenzy. Subsequently, Malygos was cured through direct intervention by Bahamut, who bestowed upon him a blessing against the disease.   Alexstrasza, Ysera and Malygos joined with Nozdormu and Neltharion, two other powerful dragon, to hunt Zuth once and for all. Forcing him to retreat in a cavern were all five dragon, except for Ysera, began the battle against Zuth, who had grown larger and even more mutated than before.   With a flap of wings, Zuth called up a massive wind that scattered the fighters. Ysera suddenly appeared and Zuth attempted to devour her, but Neltharion silenced his laughter with a mighty blow, pulled Zuth to the ground and began to mercilessly beat him even as Zuth began mutating further.   In the battle, Zuth ripped Neltharion lower jaw, Malygos moved to save him, examining the bloody mess as Zuth roared in triumph and grew ever larger. This bolstered the fighter, that, in a final attempt to protect everything they held dear, and blessed by the three dragon gods, banished Zuth from existence.   After such a feat, the five dragons were blessed with godly power and agreed to protect Toriel. By channeling the power of the three dragon gods, they were able to ascend to godhood themselves.

War of the Ancients

During the war of the ancients when the demons opened a portal to the material plane to allow their armies access to the world of Toriel, the dragon god congregated at the lair of Alexstrasza to discuss the coming invasion and what part they should play in defending the world. Neltharion proposed that to end the invasion of demons, the dragon gods should create a weapon with which they could eradicate the Demon armies.   Neltharion persuaded Malygos to aid him in convincing the other Great Aspects to lend a part of their power to create the weapon, the Dragon soul. The artifact was a simple unassuming golden disc created by Neltharion. The Dragon Soul was to be used as a weapon against the demons.   All the dragon god contributed a bit of their power in creating the dragon soul with the exception of Neltharion. Through the disk, Neltharion was able to magically take control of all other dragons including the other three dragon gods.   The dragon gods and their dragon kind flew toward the demon armies. The dragons awaited Neltharion's first attack. He grabbed the Dragon Soul and by channeling his destructive power through it destroyed thousands of demons with one swing of radiant magic. The dragon gods watched in horror as Neltharion also killed some of their kind and other allies along with the demons.   The dragon gods tried to stop Neltharion. Silver dragons surrounded Neltharion in an attempt to take the Demon Soul from him. With a single command, they were engulfed by the magic of the Dragon Soul and were pulverized. Malygos was also terribly injured, both mentally and physically.   A swing of the Dragon Soul paralyzed all dragons and the dragon gods in mid-air, rendering them unable to move or speak. Neltharion then struck out at the dragon gods, scattering them far across the land. With the help of this power, he captured Alexstrasza.   Years later, the war still raging, the demon managed to steal the weapon created by Neltharion. In a desperate bid to distract the demons and reclaim the artifact, Neltharion devised a plan to relocate Alexstrasza, whom he had captured previously.   Fortunately, intervention from the other dragon gods led to Alexstrasza's liberation. Additionally, the dragon soul was wrested from both the demons and Neltharion by Nozdormu who hoarded it, judging the artifact too dangerous. As a result, the demonic armies were swiftly defeated.

As a Dragon God

Malygos felt deep guilt for his role in convincing the other dragon gods to infuse their powers into the dragon soul. He traveled to his lair around the nexus, where he hid for millenia. Feelings of remorse paralyzed him. During ages following the War of the Ancients, he was rarely seen by the other dragon god. His body was a caricature of his former self.   A fellow dragon named Kalistar was one of Malygos' few friends. His unexpected visits brought joy to the lonely god, as they engaged in discussions about the affairs of the mortal world.

The price of life

Kalistar approached Malygos, delicately cradling the lifeless body of a young boy. His voice trembled as he pleaded for Malygos' aid, beseeching the dragon god for help. Unfortunately, Malygos was not a Deity of life and possessed no authority over such matters. However, as the master of the weave, he could attempt something, though the consequences could prove perilous for Kalistar.   Kalistar's love for the adopted child, Vanumoke, had deepened during their time together. He was prepared to sacrifice his own life if necessary. The process began with Malygos manipulating the weave, redirecting its flow as Kalistar transferred his essence to Vanumoke. Tragically, the process claimed Kalistar's life, and even the dragon god Essence was partially absorbed.   With Kalistar's Death, Vanumoke emerged alive, now infused with the power and essence of both a dragon and a portion of a god's power. As a result, when Vanumoke awoke, he was no longer Human—he had ascended to godhood. The newly transformed Vanumoke mourned his adoptive father, recognizing the ultimate sacrifice made on his behalf.

The Nexus

Witnessing the transformation of the boy into a god and observing his mourning for his deceased father, Malygos regained faith in mortals. Driven by a desire to prevent future betrayals among gods and to avert further wars, he sought higher powers. In pursuit of this goal, Malygos caused the nexus—a link to the Elemental plane of weave that he protected—to grow and expand.   However, the consequences of his actions were violent. The burgeoning nexus caused the world's crust to splinter as the weave flowed in immense quantities onto the material plane. This influx of magical energy infused everything, from plants to beasts to monsters, blessing many with the essence of the weave.

Mistress of the Weave

As the god of magic was isolated again on his floating island, a woman, named Jaina Proudmoore managed to find the location of his mystical lair. The god was impressed by her affinity with the Weave, and proposed for the wizard to stay.   Jaina, unwilling to refuse such a proposition, gladly agreed, and spent countless days, even weeks with Malygos. Becoming the champion of the god of magic, the two became much closer than that, as the court mage started an affair, cheating on her husband with the god of magic himself. When rumor spread of Jaina disparition, she finally realized she had to left, but the dragon god, in an attempt to see her again, blessed her with immortality, at least against the attack of Time. Jaina swore to the god she would, one day come back, may it be in centuries or in millennia, but she'll come back.
