Sky Plague
The disease created by the Chezucore during the War of the Serpent and the Sky is known as the Sky Plague. It is a highly infectious and deadly illness, spread through contact with infected individuals or through contaminated objects. Its symptoms are flight-related and include a reduction in endurance, withering of the wings, and other similar symptoms that hinder an infected Aarakocra's ability to fly. As the illness progresses, it weakens and kills the infected individuals, leaving them unable to escape or defend themselves.
If a flying creature touch an infected creature or object they must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw, becoming infected on a failed save. If a creature’s saving throw is successful, they become immune to the Sky Plague for 24 hours.
A creature infected with the Sky Plague must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw each day at dawn. On a failed save, the creature’s flying speed is reduced to 0 and its Constitution score is reduced by 1d4. If a creature’s Constitution score is reduced to 0 then they die.
The Sky Plague remains a potent threat to the Aarakocra, who still suffer from its effects today. It serves as a reminder of the brutality of the War of the Serpent and the Sky. Those who have been infected with the Sky Plague are often ostracized and feared by others, who are afraid of contracting the disease themselves. Despite this, many Aarakocra continue to search for a cure for the Sky Plague, in the hopes of one day freeing themselves from its grasp.
