Elves

Elves, a race born of a dark and tragic history, emerged from the union between ancient human nobles and elben females. Conceived in a desperate experiment to engineer superior soldiers, elves bear the weight of a curse inflicted upon them by the gods, protectors of the elben race. This curse, a testament to the forbidden nature of their creation, manifests as roots that entwine their bodies, causing excruciating pain throughout their lives. Yet, paradoxically, these same roots grant elves a form of natural immortality, ensuring their enduring existence in the world despite the agony they endure.
The roots that entwine an elf's body serve not only as a source of agony but also as a conduit for strength and vitality. Attempts to sever or remove these roots result in excruciating pain and, ultimately, a slow and agonizing death.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves bear a striking resemblance to humans, with the most notable distinction being their larger stature. On average, elves tower over even the tallest humans, commanding a presence that reflects their formidable strength and resilience. Roots intricately weave across their entire bodies, serving as a constant reminder of their cursed lineage and the enduring pain they endure. Despite these physical differences, elves share many features with humans, including facial structure, limb proportions, and overall appearance.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elves experience a slightly prolonged period of maturation compared to humans during their early years. Typically, an elf reaches adulthood between the ages of 20 to 25 years. However, once they reach adulthood, their physical appearance remains unchanged for centuries, showcasing their inherent longevity and slow aging process. This prolonged period of physical stability allows elves to maintain a timeless and ageless appearance throughout their exceptionally long lifespans.

As an elf grows old and the pain from the curse becomes too much to endure, they may choose to embrace death. This decision typically occurs after a few centuries. It is a deeply personal choice made by each elf, influenced by their individual experiences and tolerance for suffering. When an elf decides that the burden of the curse outweighs the desire to continue living, they may bid farewell to their loved ones and peacefully pass away.

After the death of an elf, the roots that spanned their body grow larger and extend into the ground. From these roots, a tree begins to sprout, commonly known as an elven tree. These trees grow tall and majestic, bearing autumn-colored leaves throughout the year, regardless of the season.
