Tashluta

The City of Slithering Vines

Tashluta, also known as the City of Slithering Vines, is the capital city of Tashalar, an oligarchical nation on the Chultan Peninsula. Known as one of the Cities of the Seabreeze, Tashluta is fairly unique in that it is constructed within and atop a volcanic crater that opens up into the Shining Sea. This city is known for fervent religious followership to Savras, minor deity for wizards and magic.
Baseline information in regards to Tashluta can be found here.
Modifications to the actual lore include:
  • The House of the All-Seeing Orb, a temple to Savras (minor god of wizards and magic), is considered one of the most well-regarded of its kind.
  •   1291 after the Great War:
  • Orthogor, a despotic Dark Cleric who had taken residence in Murder Hall, an old abandonned castle, is found hung from a tree atop the volcanic crater. The castle was then sold to a foreign buyer, in order to swell the coffers of the city. The individual still owns it to this day.
  •   1400s after the Great War:
  • An oracle named Varlin Sarnaster is regarded as the best seer of its generation. Eventually, its name and reputation are all over Faerûn and thousands of people travel to Tashluta to get a glimpse of their future. Eventually, the seer decides to exile itself in order to focus more on its visions, as the constant ''noise'' of the people and the vision of others seers interfere with his visions. From there, Sarnaster would only see but the wealthiest of merchants that would make extremely generous donations to the House of the All-Seeing Orb.
  • Unbeknownst to everyone including itself, the seer slowly creeps into a state of madness due to the constant and long-lived isolation to which it exposes itself. Tharizdun, God of Madness, seeing the possibility of acquiring a powerful follower with incredibly strong innate abilities, makes arrangements in order to have someone bring Sarnaster an ancient book called ''The Canopic Being'', under the guise of wanting to have their fortune told.
  • The book further poisons the mind of the seer, leading it to think that the only way to keep its powers forever is to live forever.
