General House rules and guidelines-PLEASE READ

The Armstrong house is a Christian household and as such:

  • Profanity is not encouraged. Excessive profanity will not be tolerated.
  • Prayer will occur before any meal during our breaks.
  • D&D is just a game. The game involves demons and gods and make-believe characters that pray to those make-believe gods. Player characters (PCs) like a Paladin or Cleric receive their make-believe magical powers from make-believe gods. We understand that this is part of the game and magic isn’t real and we encourage role playing as a make-believe character. We will not encourage carrying role playing over into real life.
  • The party is expected to act as a family. Squabbles and struggles are normal but the PCs (and the Players that play them) will treat each other with respect and dignity. Do not carry role playing over into real life. The goal is to accomplish things as a unified party NOT as an individual character. Internal struggles as players or as characters may result in unexpected meteor showers until you learn to play well together.
  • We don’t allow “evil” characters as part of the party. Even if your character is technically good or neutral please don’t play as an “evil” character. The intent is that the PCs are working TOGETHER to a common goal (unless a specific plot device in the campaign says otherwise in which case the DM and the specific affected PC will have discussed this beforehand.) This does not mean your character cannot be part of the Zhentarim. It means that the player’s and the PC’s goals should not conflict with the goals of the party unless the DM has been consulted.
  • The DM is not perfect and will make mistakes. He will accept correction but not arguments. Some decisions made will be wrong. If you are seriously upset by a specific ruling please discuss after the game.

General:

  • When a player or DM is speaking please do you best to immerse yourself in the game and give the other person your attention. Things move fast sometimes and having to repeat what just happened can be frustrating to other players.
  • The DM will do his best to tell you who is up next after the current player in combat situations. Try to have your action thought out before your turn.
  • Please minimize the use of cell phones or other electronic devices.
  • Computers, tablets and cell phones can be used to track your PC’s items, spells, hp etc. but please minimize texting, web browsing or other distractions while playing.
  • We utilize DNDBeyond.com for player creation and during game play. Accounts are free, and we have purchased all the standard rule books. If you join our campaign in DNDBeyond.com you can have access to the complete ruleset.
  • All campaign updates and dates of our next session are saved in DNDBeyond.com under My Content-Campaigns. (updates are usually in place a day or 2 after the session is played.) Please check those updates prior to the next session if you miss a session. They’re usually fairly detailed.
  • DM will help track hit points for PCs, NPCs and monsters. Player is responsible for tracking their own HP, Spell slots, limited use items, abilities etc. Again, DNDBeyond is really good at helping track this but paper is great too.
  • We play music during our campaign to help set the mood.
