Goals:

Find out what is going on in Mirabar.

Farimour is down.

Rolen tried to lift the body but couldn’t. He felt for a pulse and found none. He quickly searched the bodies. On Farimour he found a coin pouch with 50pp, Studded leather, a short sword, and quiver of arrows. He grabbed the items and left the studded leather as more Gnolls approached. He went to the Gnoll, took the Flail, Long Bow and quiver of 16 arrows. The Gnoll was wearing chain mail but Rolen just took the items. Rolen noticed a Dwarvish symbol etched into the Gnoll’s head. He studied the symbol for a moment, not recognizing it and an arrow shot by the approaching Gnolls pierced Rolen’s Thigh. Rolen’s speed was reduced temporarily but he managed to teleport a short distance away and dash back to the town of Port Llast.
Rolen ran back to town and into the tavern yelling “Farimour is dead.” He heard a horn blow from up the hill. Anna woke up and hurriedly tried to put her armor on. Jaquette and Tyrus both jumped up in response to Rolen and Lucky looked for breakfast. Rolen asked the inn keeper who’s next in charge after Farimour and the response was “Reginald Roundshield.”
The party went outside led by Rolen and they saw half a dozen dwarves “running” down the hill, some still putting their armor on as they ran. Rolen approached Roundshield and told him “Farimour has been Slain.” Roundshield vaguely recognized Rolen and everyone (except Anna who was still dressing) followed Rolen into the Woods (with Lucky, groggily in the rear.)
The found the bodies of Farimour and the Gnoll Rolen killed. Both had their hearts removed. The Dwarves collected the body of the fallen Farimour and burned the Gnoll. Lucky examines the flail and discovered that it was an evil magical flail specifically for Gnolls. Rolen tried to get Reginald Roundshield to explain what’s going on, but Roundshield angrily replied that he needs to bury his leader first.

While they prepare for a Funeral.

The Dwarves took Farimour’s body into the town up a hill and then into a clearing where they began preparing a massive pyre. Rolen explained what he had found. Tyrus recognized the symbol he had found as the Dwarvish script letter “G”. Tyrus told the party that the dwarvish funeral will be all day. Rolen rested and Lucky found a similar Dwarvish “G” on the hilt of the Farimour’s sword. Lucky then began the process of fulfilling his promise to resurrect the 3 slain dwarves.
Four dwarves came into the pub and purchased two full kegs of ale. They took them up the hill to where the funeral pyre was being built. The rest of the party went to see what was going on at the funeral. Tyrus drank, Jaquette got drunk and Rolen left to go snooping.
Rolen found out that Farimour spent most of his time in the Garrison or in the quarry. Rolen searched the Quarry building first and found nothing but ledgers. He talked his way into Farimour’s private quarters in the Garrison and was told that the Dwarves already came and cleaned it out. Rolen searched the room and found a secret compartment in a desk drawer but it was empty. The dwarves had already taken whatever was inside.

The Funeral.

The party went back to the funeral and saw Farimour’s body wrapped in a blanket. Farimour’s body was placed upon the top of the Pyre. Rolen gave Roundshield the possessions he had found on Farimour and asked if all his possessions were being burned with him. Roundshield told him that they weren’t burning his studded leather armor. Rolen continued to pester and insult Roundshield and Roundshield annoyed and frustrated (perhaps impressed) offered a deal. “Prove yourself worthy and I’ll tell exactly what’s going on. Retrieve the stone from the Giants ship and get rid of the ship, then retrieve the jewel that Jarl Storval, the leader of the Frost Giants, wears around his neck. Rolen agreed. Roundshield asked Jaquette to light the fire.
Tyrus hung out for a bit a listened to the Dwarves. He heard stories of how good a leader Farimour was, much better than Bruenor’s son Zyark

The Giant Ship

The party spent the afternoon figuring out how to get stone off the Giant ship in the harbor. Anna noticed that the Giant ship is stuck on an old sunken ship. Lucky proposed alternate plans to magically force the dwarves to tell them the answers. They rest of the party wasn’t quite as receptive to that plan. Tyrus asked the barmaid if she had heard any news of Mirabar. She explained that while they’re still having issues, they’re surviving and fending off attacks successfully. Anna, Lucky and Rolen suggested that Farimour was in league with the Gnolls somehow but for now they’re willing to go along and prove themselves worthy to Roundshield.
Tyrus cast animal messenger on a seagull telling him to find the Kivan, the ginger bearded man in Mirabar and deliver this message: “Brother I’m in port last investigating Yeenoghu, coming to your aid as quickly as I can, Tyrus. Lucky says hi.” The bird nodded and took off towards Mirabar.
Tyrus cast Water walk on the party (except Anna.) Anna took a small rowboat and followed the party. The party climbed aboard, and Anna used her Sun Sword to cut the Mast that the Giant’s boat was stuck on. Jaquette suggested she could call in her whale friend who help push the ship. Rolen dismissed the idea. Lucky offered that he could turn into a T-Rex and push. Rolen continued to dismiss the idea. Jaquette said she could turn into a Giant Ape and also help. Tyrus thought this plan might work and he could try to control the massive giant-sized rudder. Rolen said, that once the ship is docked, perhaps the dwarves will help get the stone off the ship. Before they started, they searched the ship and found 9 giant sized sacks below deck (See Rewards Given)
Jaquette summoned the Whale and Lucky polymorphed into a T-rex and jumped off the ship. He was surprised that he didn’t sink and didn’t’ remember that they still had Walk on Water. Jaquette noticed this and polymorphed into a Giant Ape. The whale approached and all 3 began pushing from the rear of the boat. Rolen tried to guide from the front and Tyrus tried to control the rudder. It took a little time, but their plan worked, and the dock was only slightly damaged.
The party spent time in the tavern had a good meal, played a few pranks and tried to understand more about Rolen. They all slept well. Rolen was the first one up in the morning. He walked down to the docks and saw the dwarves cutting the stone on the ship into more manageable sized pieces. Reginald Roundshield approached Rolen and said “Before you go after the Frost Giant I do have something that you should know…”
