Session 68: Discoveries Report

General Summary

Session 68 – Wednesday June 2, 2021

Goals:

Before we go…

The party split up the loot they found in the Red Rocks. Jaquette took the prayer beads. Al took the green Leather armor of Acid resistance. Jeter took the Chime of Opening. Tyrena took the Swift quiver spell scroll. Everyone went into Lucky’s mansion to get some rest except for Anna who spent the night awake and mourning her sister.

Lucky cast contact other plan and for some reason shouted out:

  • Does Tanallia know a part of the sword is in Chult? Uncertain
  • Does Ducia know a part of the sword is in Chult? Uncertain
  • Does Artus Cimber have the sword part? Yes
  • Is Tanallia working with Ducia? Irrelevant
  The party woke up in the morning and found a Note from Rolen explaining he had to leave for some personal matters and will meet the party in Chult. Luigi talked to Jeter about what he had read in Jandar’s Journal. Jaquette joined them and Luigi offered to help Jaquette with her hair. Jeter asked Jaquette to help fix his robes that seemed to shrink. Jaquette was able to have a group of Silkworms start extending the sleeves of Jeter’s Robe.

Jeter stepped outside and saw that Anna was still on the beach and hadn’t slept. He and Luigi then went and woke up Lucky. Jeter went into Jaquette’s space and put his robe on (one sleeve was longer now.) Jaquette started a bonfire and cooked up some fish. Annalisa attuned to the bloodstone and focused on it. The bloodstone pointed her to a location 200 miles north of where they are. Tyrena noted that is about where Neverwinter is.

To Neverwinter

Jaquette offered to Transport via Plants but they discovered that Anna spent the night chopping down every tree on the island. Luigi spotted a large oak on a nearby island only 300 yards away. They finished their breakfast and got into the Dingy. The party rowed the Dingy to the nearby island. Once on the island they debated taking the Dingy with them or leaving it. Jaquette cast Transport via Plants while Jeter cast levitate. The party all followed Jaquette into the tree while Jeter threw the boat through the portal and then followed.

In Neverwinter, A family of 6 was passing by and the Boat struck 4 of them, badly wounding a small child. Jaquette helped them and apologized. Jeter moved the boat telekinetically to a port and the party followed Anna. Anna followed the pull of the stone to Blackhorse lane. She felt the stone point directly to a 30-year-old man.

Sirac of Suzail

Anna headed towards the stout human man and shouted out “hey you.” Jeter pulled him back with telekinesis and Anna asked, “Who are you?” He replied, “Sirac.” (Sirac of Suzail )Jeter told him “We’re looking for Artus Cimber .” Siric sighed and invited them into his home. He explained that Artus is his father. Jeter explained that they are the Order of Heroes and they’re looking for Artus Cimber for an urgent matter. Luigi asked, “How exactly does this bloodstone work?” Anna explained that if finds the nearest blood relative.

Sirac of Suzail  explained that he is the orphaned son of Artus Cimber . Artus left him in an orphanage when he was but a small baby. He had never met his father, nor does he know about the Ring of Winter. He explained that others have tracked him down (in particular, some frost giants.) The party explained the situation as one of life and death. Sirac made them some tea and said he knows of someone who can help but wanted to hear one of the stories of the Order of Heroes first. Lucky was more than happy to tell the story of the defeat of Yeenoghu and Sirac was mesmerized. After the story and some tea, Sirac told them that he knows of one man named Roaringhorn who was an adventurer with his father and may know more. Lucky and Tyrena recalled that there is a Roaringhorn noble family in Waterdeep in the city’s North Ward. Lucky recalled that they have one of the grandest residences in Waterdeep and are known for lavish parties. They party thanked Sirac and told him to not repeat this information to anyone.

To Waterdeep

Jeter suggested that they use the Harpers  Teleportation circle to teleport from Neverwinter to Waterdeep. Lucky was not too keen on this idea. Luigi saw the struggle and pricked him with a sleeping Dart and Lucky passed out. The party carried Lucky to a creaky old 3-story house the Harpers use as a meeting place. Jeter explained to the man who answered the door that he is a harper and that he wanted to use the teleportation circle to go to Waterdeep to meet with a Noble named Roaringhorn. The guard brought them to the teleportation circle in the attic. Anna put Lucky into the portable hole paid the guard 10pp and told him, “We were never here.” They were transported to the teleportation circle in the City of the Dead in Waterdeep.

Anna opened the portable hole and Luigi pulled him out and slapped him awake. Lucky had a bad reaction but quickly settled down. Lucky explained that he had a bad experience with teleportation and planar travel and every time it really bothers him. Tyrena lead the party towards the north ward.

The High House of Roaringhorn

As the party entered the north ward, they realized that not everyone could pass as a Nobel. Jeter had a disguise kit and put a wig on Jaquette and made her look a little better. Anna had her unseen servant apply some make up and Luigi cast disguise self upon himself. After 15 min the party looked passable as Nobles and they headed up the hill towards the High House of Raringhorn. As they started walking, they saw a couple walking directly to the front door of the same house they were going towards.

Jeter approached the couple and introduced himself and most of the others (as his servants.) Jeter asked how they know the Roaringhons. The man told him “I am Zelraun’s cousin from Cormyer.” He introduced himself as Alfred and his wife Winnefred and asked if the party was here for the gala this evening. Jeter told him yes. They walked to the front door and were greeted by a man in his 30’s dressed in the robes of an Archmage and accompanied by a Shield Guardian. He greeted Winnefred and Alfred and Jeter mentioned he was with the Harpers . Zelraun quickly quieted Jeter and told him “I’ll be with you in a moment.”

Zelraun Roaringhorn

Zelraun took care of his cousins and then came back to the Order of Heroes. He questioned Jeter, told him to be more discrete and asked why they were there. Jeter told him they were sent by Sirac and need to talk about Artus Cimber. Zelraun told them he has no idea who Sirac is. Jaquette told him that Sirac is the son of Artus and they would like to speak in private. Zelraun invited them in and he and the Shield Guardian escorted them to a secret chamber behind a bookcase. Jeter asked if they could go get their friend Anna. Zelraun and the Shield Guardian escorted Al out and came back with Anna 5 minutes later.

They explained how they came to find Sirac and who he was. Because Jeter was a harper Zelraun was inclined to listen. They explained they were looking for Artus and Zelraun told them that he was a former adventuring partner of his and if Artus was back on the sword coast he would most certainly know about it. He went on to say that that Artus is probably still in Chult looking for his wife Alisanda. The party asked if he had any place they could start looking. He suggested Port Nyanzaru. He questioned them some more and seeing that they were resolute and sincere in their desire he opened a chest of magical items and allowed each person to select 1 item (See rewards below)

Zelraun escorted the party out and told Jeter that he would speak well of him to the Harpers . As a result, Jeter’s rank in the Harpers was increased to 2nd level “Agent of the Harpers” also known in the Harpers as a “Harpshadow.” This rank entitles Jeter to secret missions assigned by the Harpers, an apprenticeship to an Adventure Mentor (if he should find one) and special Faction training during downtime.

Follow me…

Lucky’s flip stone rang, it was a message from Fiew Lau who was very upset that Orcs and Half-orcs were visiting the cigar shop rather than high end clientele. Lucky replied that it was not him who sent them. After the message, Lucy saw a pile of leaves swirl into the air and take on a humanoid form and motion to Lucky to approach. He started following and the leaves swirled into the air and headed out of the city of Waterdeep. Lucky and the rest of the party followed.

Lucky cast Mage Armor and wild magic gave him a very obnoxious odor that stunned Jeter momentarily. Jeter cast Mage Armor also and Wild magic kicked in on Jeter who only spoke with insults for about a minute. As Lucky passed others on the street, they too became stunned by Lucky’s obnoxious odor (including Anna and Jaquette.) After a minute the effects wore off and they all continued following the leaves out of the gate and into a wooded area.

The Summer Queen -Queen Titania

The party walked through the woods to a clearing where they saw the most beautiful elven looking woman they had ever seen petting a deer in the middle of the clearing. Lucky bowed and started to walk into the clearing but was stopped by the trees. A Satyr that Lucky recognized named Harisum Fijord, approached and told Lucky that because he is tainted by evil he cannot approach Queen Titania and that he’s not welcome into the summer court until his evil is purged.

He asked Lucky what he knows of his pursuers. Lucky explained what he knew. Harisum Fijord told him that he has several missions. He explained that Tanallia, the Summer Queen’s granddaughter, has taken on the form of a Drow that calls herself Ducia The Desecrator . He explained that she has achieved a type of godhood of her own and has become quite powerful.

In addition, Harisum told Lucky that he and his friends must destroy the remnants of evil that are entombed in Amber. And to do that he must use The god Destroyer . Doing so will weaken Tanallia and remove some of her power as it will to all those touched by their evil. When this task is accomplished the sword can then be brought to the Summer Queen (Titania) who will destroy it. Lucky asked about his own gifts and if removing them will open the door back to him getting into the Summer court. Harisum Fijord confirmed and offered no compensation to Lucky for eliminating the dark gifts but the court would consider his achievements once they are accomplished.

Harisum Fijord also told Lucky that while Zhǎo xìngyùn - 找幸运 - Zhou SING YUNE can be translated “Find Luck” it is better translated as “Find Lucky” as the organization was specifically setup to locate and track Lucky. Harisum explained that Lucky handed them something very personal that effectively gives Tannalia/Ducia The Desecrator the ability to Scry upon him more easily. Lucky asked if the Illithid have the amber sarcophagi and Harisum said yes.

Harisum Fijord explained that their current mission is to gather the parts of the sword and if they are heading to Chult they should seek out Syndra Silvane in the Trading Ward in Waterdeep. Harisum explained that Toril is in great peril and they should make haste as there is a curse originating from Chult.

Syndra Sylvane

The party left the glade and went back into the city and found the home of Syndra Sylvane . They were met by a uniformed attendant who led them up a grand staircase to Syndra. They were greeted by a figure in an overstuffed chair wearing a mask and with a raspy voice who called themselves Syndra. Lucky explained why they were there and Syndra explained that she was once an adventure. She asked them if any had been dead previously and explained that she had. They party found a map of Chult but most of the inside was blank.

Lucky asked where Artus Cimber is and Syndra told them he’s in the city of Omu deep in Chult. Syndra asked if they’ve heard of the Death Curse. Syndra explained that once a person is dead, they cannot be brought back and those who have died and have been brought back to life are getting weaker every day. She went on to explain that the Harpers  have discovered that the source of this is an ancient Artifact known as a Soul Monger. She explained that an ancient Lich named Acererak The Lich came across an ancient evil known as Dhlver-Nar who led Acererak to an Atropal. Acererak built the soulmonger to feed the Atropal souls to achieve godhood. Acererak is doing this in one of his Tombs in Chult. Artus Cimber went to put an end to this and has not been heard from since.

Syndra sent in an adventuring party know as the Yellow Banner but they have not returned. They found the entrance to the Tomb and figured out how to get in. Syndra offered to teleport the party to Chult to a contact named Fred who can lead them to the tomb and explain how to get in.

5 days to save Chipper!

The party realized that Jaquette and Tyrus had both been brought back from the dead but so has Chipper! At the current rate of decay, Chipper will be dead in 5 days! Syndra had her servant open a door to a room with a teleportation circle. They party went in and were teleported to Chult. A tall young red-haired man greeted them saying “Hello, I’m Fred Wheezy .”

    • Gather the other parts of the sword (Blade, Hilt and Guard) and assemble the sword
    • Locate the Amber Sarcophagi and destroy them with The god Destroyer 
    • Take the sword to the Summer Queen and have her destroy it.
