The Demon Lords consist of nine extremely powerful evil entities of the Abyss. Their title of Lord is given to them originally by the Abyss' supreme power and mother of demons, Pale Night, but can also be obtained by slaying a Demon Lord and claiming their realm by force. Three Demon Lords have been the largest historical threat to the people of Orb. Twice in Orb's history, these Demon Lords rose from the Abyss to wreak havoc and attempt to claim the world as their own.
The three lords that make up this group are Graz'zt, Orcus, and Demogorgon. All three originally came to Orb to stage a war that would claim this new world. Their might was equally matched among the three and no true victor emerged. Thus, the Lords were called back to the Abyss by Pale Night who proceeded to punish them for wasting their armies on their petty war.
The lords waited and over time, Pale Night shifted her gaze to other matters and, still holding their grudges from the original conflict, the demon lords returned to Orb to once again attempt to reclaim the world. This second invasion was stopped short as the Ancient Dragons had united the world in a unified stand against the demons. Eventually, all three demon lords were banished to the Abyss again.
Graz'zt began hatching plans to take Orb again as it had become an obsession of his. He wiped the memory of the world from the minds of the other two demon lords and began subtly laying the ground work for his eventual return.
