Orberries
Orberries are found only in Ordun's Wetlands and are carefully farmed. These sweet-sour berries are bursting with flavour and vitamins and are sold to the wealthy to be made into sauces or juices, or baked into pastries. Due to their unique nature, associated health benefits and limited production, they are considered the food of the noble and wealthy and (like pineapples in England once upon a time) are considered something of a status symbol.
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
Orberries grow in the bog pools of Ordun's wetlands, with more tightly controlled pools being constructed in order to better farm them. They actually grow deep under the surface of the water for the most part, protecting them from birds that would try to eat them before they're fully ripened.
Biological Cycle
Whilst the vines that the berries grow on appear to live for a long time unless damaged, the berries themselves will start budding at the end of spring and ripen over the course of summer, being at their juiciest as the weather begins to grow cold again. Similar to some other plants, when fully ripe they will detach at the slightest pressure and float to the surface to be eaten by whatever creature may be nearest.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
Orberries are harvested when they ripen, with the Dwarves of Ordun and some of the regrowing villages nearby quickly developing better way to increase the yield and efficiency of harvesting. While the berries cannot really be eaten on their own, simply due to the strength of flavour, making sauces from it to accompany meats or mixing it with honey to make a sweet drink is very popular. They are also commonly mixed into pastries and cakes or used to decorate them.
