Asen

The Asen are the pantheon of gods in norse and germanen mythology. The Asen, led by Wotan are known to be locked in an eternal battle with the giants.   Most members of this pantheon are known to be very rough in character. While they can be sometimes brutal and merciless, they do favor honesty, loyalty and commitment to the clan or family. Many of the known gods, like Thare or Donar have a strong focus on fighting and the life of a warrior. Especially since the events of Wotan's Call and the ongoing conflict with the southern-based Isanmannen Empire the more battleworn gods have become more popular and influenctial within the Chaukenlande.

Notable Members

Wotan

Wotan is called the allfather of the Asen. While not technically the father to all gods in this pantheon, he is the (usually) undisputed leader. Well known for having only one eye, he is believed to see the past and the future with almost perfect clarity. The chauken believe him to be the cause of the almost ragnarök like events of Wotan's Call and they believe to be called upon for the upcoming battles.

Thare

Thare is one of the sons of Wotan. Associated with the storm and war, he is known as a patron to the well trained warrior. Their focus is on preparation as well as dealing with the aftermath - seeing the fight as a necessary duty to achieve success and freedom for the chauken.

Donar

Donar is the second son of Wotan. Being the god of thunder and of mighty warriors, he has many superficial similarities to Thare. However, he prefers the single hero giving their best in the moment. His ambition is the boastful celebration after a successful battle, because what can be greater then surviving and telling the heroic story?

Ferannja

Ferannja is told to be the adoptive daughter of Wotan. Associated with the winter's ice and the hunt, she is the unofficial patron of wolves and the Wuelfe, event though they are not said to be created by her. With her help, the Wuelfe hope to overcome the wild nature given to them by Fenrir.

Fenrir

It is unclear, if Fenrir can be properly counted to the Asen. Unlike the other gods, their nature is more wild and agressive, roaming the world in form of a giant wolf. He is neither friend of Wotan - having apparently stolen power from him to create the Wuelfen - nor of the mortals most of the time - who he sees as selfishly destructive and a scourge on the world.
