Sephira grew up in an artisan's family at the docks of Port Abeir. Her family surrenderred her to the Mer'anin organization for magical training at the age of 7, along with her twin sister Alitura.
Both sisters were very quick learners and quickly rose to the top of their class. To Sephira's displeasure however, she was always one step behind Alitura, second in achievement, talent and favor with the teachers.
During her studies, by accident or by Fate, Sephira discovered an ancient tome on "True Magick". The book described an unconventional approach to magic and promised powerful results through obscure spells and rituals.
Eager to surpass Alitura, Sephira secretly applied the book's teachings. Soon after, her sister died in an accident, making Sephira the top student in her class.
Though there was nothing to tie Sephira to her sister's death, she believed it was a direct cause of her secret studies.It was also proof that "True Magick" was effective, but dangerous.
Sephira still works with "True Magick", but she has vowed to eliminate chance and unintended consequences from her life. Thus, she pursues Divination as a field of study.
Of course, that is easier said than done. Just a few days before her final test to ascend to the rank of "Mer'anin", she was responsible for destroying expensive research equipment in Allamir.
She now has to pay back the 15.000 gp worth of damages through coin or service before she can continue in her studies.
