Woodend Town Hall

Main government building where the mayor resides and performs civil duties within Woodend, Montana.

History

Was first established in 1840, the same year as the founding of Woodend. It was initially a log cabin with a singular room used as both an office and meeting room. Early settlers would discuss expansions to the settlement, yields in food supplies, trade routes, and hunting parties. The town initially relied on its founder and well-renowned frontiersmen, Abraham Figgs, for leadership and guidance. After his death, the settlement formed into a quaint town, and the role of 'mayor' fell towards elected leaders from here on out. By the time Trappers became notorious for the town, Woodend began modernizing slowly into timber and brick homes for a more permanent residence. And along with that, so too was the government and townhall of Woodend.

Design

Today, the building finished full completion in 1887. With bluestone and red brick walls, and many marbled pillars decorating the exterior.
