Visoran Army (vih-ZOHR-ahn AHR-mee)

Originally from the planet of Visor, the Visoran Army is the military group currently battling the CKGs for control of Geranium and other nearby planets. Although the IPA does not consider them a serious threat, the CKGs know it is only a matter of time before irreparable damage is done.
They've killed my friends, they've attacked my town. They won't stop, no matter what the IPA believes. They can't stop, not with Karol in control.
— Stella, Pitical's Squadron

Structure

The Visoran Army is made up of several branches all controlled by one leader, General Karol. Karol is the head of everything and makes the most decisions. His strategies are passed through his inner circle of branch directors and sent out to the main troop commanders. The commanders send the troops into battle and make the decisions that best fulfill their directives during missions.

Public Agenda

The Visoran Army was originally founded to protect the planet of Visor. When General Karol took over many years ago, their goals changed. The army became primarily offensive instead of defensive and began to conquer nearby planets in an effort to take over and control the entire galaxy.
We never wanted this to happen. He manipulated us. He turned us into these monsters, or maybe his ancestor did. My generation had no choice or chance.

Assets

The Visoran Army currently controls six planets as well as Visor, giving them resources from all of those locations. Most of their fuel and metal comes from either Visor or their moon, fabric is mass-produced in factories on one of their conquests, weapons are made on Visor, ships are built on other planets, and money is stolen from newly conquered planets. The Visorans also have advanced technology and there are rumors that the current General Karol and his children have magic.

History

The Visoran Army was originally formed about 1,100 years ago when the planet of Visor was almost taken over by a mining corporation. The army was created to protect the planet from being invaded or attacked. A few years after the Polaris Collapse, Visor joined the IPA and the army dropped in upkeep. However, in approximately 751 APC, a mysterious man who called himself Karol came to power. Karol took over all planetary affairs in a few years and began to rebuild the army.

Under Karol's leadership, the Visoran army grew far stronger. Karol implemented strict training regimens and instituted a draft for everyone over the age of seventeen. In the army, he utilized intense brainwashing programs, all of which violate IPA anti-slavery laws (taking away choice of profession). Before the planetary alliance could discover his crimes, Karol withdrew Visor from the IPA and sent teams to take over the moon for its resources.
As the years passed, Karol continued to hold the army and the entire planet in complete control. It is unknown whether the same person has ruled Visor for 250 years or if his descendants simply continue to take his name. Six years ago, the Visoran Army attacked and took over a nearby planet. The IPA had no idea, and the Visorans have begun to creep ever closer to Zenricho since then.
Their only true resistance has been the CKGs, a military and exploration group from Geranium that discovered what the Visorans are doing. The CKGs are unsupported by the IPA and the Visoran Army quickly created new technology to brainwash and mind control any CKGs they capture in battle. The CKGs have just become aware of this, but magic is needed to reverse the damage, and the Visorans have already put their new soldiers to use as spies and are closer than ever to their goal of taking over the galaxy.
They would keep our people locked up, and then they would use stuff to make them forget about us. We don't know what kind of technology they used or how to reverse it. Then they'd send out our own friends against us as hackers. We didn't even know until a few months before you arrived.

Mind Control Technology

Currently forbidden by IPA guidelines, mind control technology has recently emerged in certain circles of the galaxy's elite. This illegal technology uses enhanced soundwaves combined with sedation drugs to erase parts of the victim's memory as well as make them vulnerable to manipulation. Reversing both the manipulation and the memory erasure are extremely difficult without the help of magic and long-term effects have not been studied. It is believed that victims of this mind control would have trouble trusting people and would find it harder to connect to others.
Being brainwashed by them... It messed him up, Maya. It's much harder for him to trust and he can't connect to people well.
— Worriz, Secret War

Data Spies

Composed primarily of captured and mind-controlled CKGs, the Data Spies are a group of specialized hackers and intelligence agents. Their main base is located on Geranium a few miles from the border of Southern Geranium. All members of the Data Spies are trained by Visoran operatives and are led by Adam Ransom, a man just one step away from General Karol's inner circle. Although most of the Data Spies are former CKGs who were brainwashed into service, several are local kids who were recruited before they could discover the CKGs and others are the children of high-up Visoran officers. Adam Ransom's own son is one of them.   Upon entering the Data Spies, former CKGs are given new codenames to prevent them from remembering their pasts. Other recruits often take nicknames as well to fit in better, but some keep their given names, particularly if they are unusual. Friendships are discouraged, but the kids are assigned teammates to work with.

Author's Notes

The Visorans are important to the main story, so I had a lot to write about for this article. The Data Spies fit the prompt idea best, but they're really only a branch of the main Visoran Army.

Oh boy, this was a fun read! You did a great job making these guys seem sufficiently evil, especially with the usage of mind control. Great article!

Thank you! I'm glad they came across that way, they are supposed to be a significant threat at first.

Lilliana Casper   I don't comment much, but I love reading your articles! Please check out my worlds, Jerde and Tread of Darkness.
