War on Laiqua.
Two port towns on the south coast of Laiqua have declared war on each other. One is Southport, an orderly town run by the Order of the Rod. While there is a great deal of trade between Filishar and Southport, the leadership follow such a different philosophy to our own that closer ties have not been possible. The other party in this war is Mikel's Town, a fiercely proud and independent place. It's leader, Avarin Drak, has recently begun attempting to bring the surrounding settlements more fully under his control. As he has adopted a diplomatic approach, this has met with some success, and it is believed that the growing power of Mkel's town is what has prompted this conflict. There have already been several skirmishes along what used o be a friendly border, with dozens killed and villages either abandoned or turned into staging posts. Additional squads have been transferred into Filishar, and vessels capable of carrying them have been made ready should the need arise. However, senior sources in the army tell us that there are no immediate plans to intervene in this conflict.
