Furward Amulet

An amulet said to help protect the wearer from possession by Mulligain.

History

These amulets first appears in Trem in 210 as concerns about the return of Bloody Fur reached new levels. They are popular among those who live near or have to travel through the docks area, especially at night.   Given the claims about the protective nature of these charms they have been investigated several times over the years. Contrary to many people's expectations the amulets (the real ones rather than cheaper copies) do have a small enchantment. This enchantment helps to bolster someone's sense of self and would be helpful if a spirit did try to possess the wearer, though the manufacturer is careful to say they would help resist possssion rather than saying they protect against it.   The enchantment on the amulet lasts a few months at most, though it is possible to find people willing to refresh it (for a small fee of course).   While the authorities frown on the sale of these amulets they have been unable to stop their distribution. Since the amulets technically do what the sellers claim and while it is possible to penalise those creating an artificial demand, most of the sellers are just exploiting the situation.
Raw materials & Components
These amulets are made from cast bronze with a tuft of golden fur tied in the centre. The fur comes from dogs which fur that is a close match to shade that Mulligain is said to have had.   The amulets have an intricate pattern, with the outer edges of the oval consisting of what looks like interwoven threads. Inside this outer pattern are a number of details symbols representing protection and strength of will. A hole at the centre of the amulet has four small hooks which allow the fur to be tied in the centre. Although many carry these in a pouch there is a circle of bronze at the top of the amulet which allows for it to be worn on a chain or cord.   While the amulets are being cast they require a small pinch of silver and a brief chant to activation the protective enhancements.
