Oron Calcamorna

Geography

Estimated to be 25,000ft high this mountain is the highest on the continent of Beraca and dominates the landscape for miles around. Something of an anomaly this mountain stands on it's own and appears to be formed from black rock with an incredible smooth and reflective surface that is frequently compared to glass. The mountain is dotted with large tunnel entrances about half way up, though there are no reliable reports of what lies inside. Despite it's incredible height and the presumably freezing conditions at the peak, there is no sign of snow on the upper slopes.   The rock of the mountain is said to have been changed from the orange and red stone normally found in this region to the reflective black stone that makes the mountain today by the magic unleashed in the final battle of the war.

Localized Phenomena

Reaching the upper slopes of the mountain has proved extremely difficult for those foolhardy enough to try.  From about 100ft up from the base of the mountain the wind suddenly picks up, gusting in unpredictable directions, with the winds having the speed and force of a hurricane.  magic around the mountain is equally unpredictable with regions that nullify or enhance magic appearing at random.

History

According to the legends of the War of Scale and Flame this mountain was the meeting place for the dragons when they were debating what to do about the lesser races. According to the legend, inside the mountain is a vast chamber that can hold dozen's of dragons, with the dragonic equivalent of thrones carved into the chamber so that they could be comfortable during long discussions.   Multiple expeditions have tried to reach the inner chamber but with the difficulties of first crossing the dragon wastes, and then climbing the smooth stone of the mountain, before having to face the howling winds part way up the mountain has proved too much.  Attempts to teleport in have also proved unsuccessful and it is believed that the inside of the mountain is warded against both scrying and transportation spells.   Despite the difficulties there has never been a shortage of adventurers arriving in Ogarin determined to be the ones who will finally reach the inner chamber.  They are lured by the stories of the vast wealth the dragons placed there before the war which is (according to the bards at least) enough to by several kingdoms.
