Maw Demon
Maw Demons, also known as Abyssal Maws, are lesser Demons that are made of malice and mouth, constantly hungry for carnage and mortal flesh. They are seen as nothing more than unintelligent, demonic wildlife to other demonic entities in the Plane of Demons.
Appearance
A Maw Demon resembles an enormous toothy mouth surrounded by a small plethora of stubby appendages. The squat, bulbous body of the demon is practically split in half to accommodate their giant gullets and their four arms work to carry food to the slavering jaws. Their ugly hides are a shade of dull brown and blue.Combat
The randing teeth of the Maw Demon can deal devastating damage to their victims, especially those that fall underneath them. Their appetite is so strong that they can consume horse-sized creatures in under a minute.Lacking ranged attacks, their strategy rarely goes beyond attacking the nearest foe with a preference for those that are already lying prone.Behaviour
Maw Demons are dim and simple, only understanding two primal concepts: hunger and food. They are not driven by anger or bloodlust, but by gluttony, preferring to consume as opposed to fight. Unfortunately, they favour meat that is as fresh as possible, desiring living flesh rather than something already dread, but if they entered a fight that is too difficult, they will subsist on the next best meal. Prey that is already bloodied is even more likely to send them into a ravenous frenzy, not stopping until the Maw Demons has feasted. Though Maw Demons can normally understand Abyssal (and perhaps Common), their lack of intelligence and overwhelming number of teeth makeit practically impossible for them to actually speak, normally resulting in unclear noisesSociety
Demonic armies often use Maw Demons as shock troops, having them rush into the thick of combat straight away. They are incapable of forming true alliances with other beings due to their dull brains, only serving other Demons or entities by forced. Maw Demons have strong connection with the Demon Lord Yeenoghu, as they share his insatiable hunger for all living things, causing the Demon Lord to have a special affinity with the Maw Demons.Ecology
The hunger of Maw Demons is infamously bottomless, for the living mouths are literally maws of the Plane of Demons. After they rest for about eight hours, anything that a Maw Demon has devoured would be transported directly to the Plane of Demons for further "digestion". Though in some cases, their meals are sent directly to Yeenoghu's gullet.In-Game Stats
