High Priest of the Seas
The High Priest of the Seas is the leader of the clergy in the Giamela Kingdom. Being a seafaring (and seafearing) people, Giamelans as a whole tend to worship a variety of oceanic- and water-centric deities, but their central diety of worship is Procan, God of Seas, Sea Life, Sea Weather, and Navigation.
Appointment
The rank of High Priest of the Seas is said to to be selected by Procan when a member of the clergy goes out at sea in a small rowboat where the member would shackle him or herself to a heavy stone and cast it overboard. It is said that Procan will weigh the clergyman to status within the clergy in one form or another, but those chosen for the rank of High Priest of the Seas is incredibly rare as there have only been twenty High Priests since Giamela's formal founding near millennia ago.
Benefits
The High Priest of the Seas has a politically representative seat on Giamela's High Council.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Dons flowing white trimmed, sea green robes with elaborate gold embroideries and seascapes and carries a gold trident head on a spiraled, coral staff.
