The High Chaplain's Finery
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Arnaud's ghost is bound to his clothes by a desire for revenge. His ghost wishes to find his body to so he may exact his revenge on the heathens who killed him but they have been dead for centuries and his body is but ash in the soil of Dormun. He is an angry spirit but he has no way of interacting physically with the world at this time. He can communicate to those who touch the robes but he cannot apparate as it has been so long since his death and he has moved so far from the battlefield he was killed on. If someone were to don the robes he might be able to possess them. Arnaud knows he was killed and understands somewhat that he is a ghost but his conviction that he could return is confounding and he seems unaware or unwilling to accept how long ago he died and how much the world has changed. He speaks of the mission of his ancient order who faded with his death.
Significance
The High Chaplain Lawrence Arnaud wore these clothes as his uniform as leader of the Brothers of the Third. He died in these clothes while on a conquest in modern day Dormun. Those who killed him took his armour as trophy but they were forgotten for ages, locked away in a vault with the spoils of war, cached out of mind. The finery was recently discovered after a revitalized effort to restore Arnoran history in Aulette. The Dormish vault where the garments were held came under the purview of the Boscom Trade Company. Realizing what these garments were, they were sent to Boscom for safe keeping while those in charge decided what best to do with them.
Another thing that was discovered which muddied the situation was the robes are haunted by the ghost of Lawrence Arnaud himself. Being such a controversial historical figure, Arnaud's ghost holds many difficult questions for the morality of who should have these robes and what should be done with them. So for now they are tucked away in the basement of the Boscom National Museum.
