Akechi Mitsuhide
Demon-Swallowed
Dastardly Akechi Mitsuhide (a.k.a. 明智 光秀)
Summary:
One of Oda Nobunaga’s most trusted generals while she was in power, and a primary military commander of her forces. Something of a trickster and a wild card, he often handled things in his own way and ignored orders from Nobunaga, but she allowed this maverick activity due to the results he achieved. Mitsuhide is skilled in actual combat, as well as the casting of illusion spells, but he tries to avoid drawing his sword when possible, especially if the situation can be resolved by some old-fashioned trickery. Some doubts have been cast upon whether Mitsuhide was truly loyal to Nobunaga, as he played a large hand in Toyotomi Hideyoshi's failed rebellion against his former Daimyō. Nobunaga was quick to bring him back into the fold, however, and seemed to believe he is still worthy of her trust, or, at least, that she had his unpredictable behavior well in hand. For a time after Nobunaga abdicated her position as Daimyō, Mitsuhide became the new commander of the Oda Clan. This was not a popular decision, but may have prevented a civil war between the remaining Oda generals. His rule came to an end when he was killed in the Mōri Martial Arts Tournament and his soul eaten by an attending demon.Mental characteristics
