Humble Craftsman Masamune (a.k.a. 正宗)

Summary:

A “humble” swordsmith working near the Canal District of Wakigami. Masamune is in fact one of the greatest blacksmiths of the current age, matched only by his rival, known only as Muramasa. He ran a small smithy that was recently upgraded to a much larger operation known as the Kō-midare Workshop under the patronage of the Hashinara  Clan. He also plays the role of guardian and mentor to Susuki, who claims to be his assistant, as well as Chōsokabe Morichika, who chooses to stay with him rather than get involved in clan politics.
Masamune is handsome, charming, and extremely competent. He seems to spend little time actually working, but under his simple yukata is the tell-tale muscular build of a blacksmith. Popular in the canal district for his open personality and ready smile, he also has a reputation among the single women of Wakigami as something of a rascal.
His hobbies include such humble pursuits as forging legendary blades, teaching his apprentices, and lounging around outside the smithy without a shirt on.
