The Punishment Tower

For the 'unimportant', Punishment Tower was the place to be captive. In fact, it was the only place to be captive for the few who weren't killed or sent to Delusional Isle. It wouldn't be too bad, except Elves constantly forgot to feed the Humans their proper food at the needed three times a day. And if the Fairy Fanatics stopped accusing (ravenously punishing) everyone in the Tower of accosting Fairies. And if the mould wasn't there. The Magic Moss was ok. At first. Yep, Punishment Tower was the place to be.   Now they only had to wait for their captors to abuse them, use them, or reintroduce them to society. The latter doesn't happen often as the magic to make someone lose their memories (literally) has been Forbidden. Abuse is generally by the The Watch towards those who have invested their time negatively towards Fairies. The Council of Turien is the main user of these half-punished criminals.   A number of Elven and Mermaid guards are posted around the Tower.

Purpose / Function

The Tower was originally built as a place to reform criminals. Magic was used on their memories and eventually the ability to take out a person's memories and implant them into something like a pearl was the norm. (Let's not mention all the experimentation that went on there. Almost all memory manipulation type magics have been Forbidden by the Council of Turien by now.) Once they had lost their memories they were able to be reintroduced into society, in a place where not many recognised them. That was the idea, anyway. The successes and failures of this method may be found in history. Maybe no one cared. The Tower has never had an extension built-in.   From the end of the 25th Cycle, criminals headed to the Punishment Tower were mostly Human and Beast-kin who had some kind of technological or medical insight that could be used for the good of Turien. However, the criminals themselves were considered dangerous enough to not warrant them in normal society.

Architecture

The Punishment Tower has been built with the earth magic of the Elves, polished white to match all the prominent buildings of the Elven Kingdom.
