Bezantur

Bezantur, also known as the City of a Thousand Temples, and the Citadel of Thieves, is a foreboding but prosperous port city located at the southern coast of the Thayan tharch of Priador. It is as diverse a place that can be found in the nation, and the largest city in the empire. Though it lacks the joy and hope offered by the great metropolises of western Faerûn, it is considered by many the heart and soul of Thay, famous for its great harbor that opens up into the Alamber Sea.
Description Bezantur is enclosed within massive, black walls that loom over its outer streets. The slums of Bezantur stick to these walls and spread beyond their protection, in a grouping of shacks and inter-connected shanties known as Market Town.
The famed harbor of Bezantur is nearly always packed to the brim with ships unloading their goods in and out of the city. Due to the lack of "official" taxes, Guild of Foreign Trade inspectors, along with their thieves' guild counterparts, are often found taking their cut of Bezanturan imports. While sharks, giant eels and octopuses inhabit the waters beneath the docks, sahuagin and even lacedons are known to come ashore and wreak havoc. The harbor waters are rumored to be rich with wealth, thrown there as tributes to Umberlee by the inhabitants of the city. It is said that anyone fool enough to help themselves to those riches would suffer death by drowning, regardless of how far they fled.
Bezantur's most spectacular buildings, along with many of its temples, are located in the heart of the city, at the end of the High Road just beyond the North Gate. The southwest quarter is a labyrinthine maze warehouses, often used to arrange clandestine meetings and conduct illicit business, while the northeast region, known as the Street of White Roses, is perhaps the most lawless part of the city known to some as the Citadel of Thieves.
Law and Order Crime is harshly dealt with in Bezantur. Though there are thieves' guilds operating in the city, the Bezantur Red Guard keeps a strict watch on the wealthy and middle class neighborhoods. Market Town, however, is largely left to its own devices. 
Economy Bezantur is vital to the Thayan economy, as it controls the majority of Thay sea trade across the Alamber Sea and sits along the Grand Steam. This makes it both an important sea port and a vital port for airships and spelljammers. The neutral waters of the Alamber serve as the primary sea route between Thay, Mulhorand, Unther, Tymanther and High Imaskar, and the Grand Stream connects it to western Faerun. Just about anything, or anyone, was available for purchase within the city.
The city houses the headquarters of the Guild of Foreign Trade, overseen by the ambitious and adept transmuter, Samas Kul, who recently ascended to the rank of zulkir.
