The Ark of Fanir
In the Bay of Crabs sits an ancient vessel - once the personal ship of Fanir, God of Exploration and Discovery, it is now little more than a rotting husk. It is said that the Ark sailed to all the lands of Lume in ages past, and even to worlds beyond. For now, however, the ship's great bell silently gathers rust, waiting to announce a journey that may never come again.
Architecture
The Ark of Fanir is greatly weathered and overgrown, and most of the architectural detail has been lost to time. What has not been lost, however, is the overall avian design of the ark. From the beaked prow to the outstretched wings, the ark is a representation of the free-flying dove of Fanir.
In terms of size, the Ark of Fanir easily outclasses any mortal vessel, with the main hull measuring nearly 2,200 ft (670 m) long and almost 400 ft (122 m) wide. The upper deck is dotted with towers, including the three main celestial engines that once powered the ark. Most of the towers appear to have been used as living quarters back when the ark still sailed, though they have deteriorated greatly. Overall, the deck is open and spacious, with many views to the sky.
The three celestial engine towers remain in decent shape, despite the passage of time. How their mechanics fare is unclear, as below deck is a labrythine mess of ever-splitting passages and unfathomable contraptions. Some of these contraptions still move, powered by forces unknown to serve purposes unkown. This may be a sign that the ark could travel still, but it might also just be the ship's dying gasps.
History
Though the Ark of Fanir is a very holy site for Fanir's worshippers, it has seen little other attention over the years. Prior to the 4th Age of Destruction, attempts were made to fix the ark and make it seaworthy once more, but the Dreamrot plague brought a sudden end to such experiments. The Gracian Confederation now rules over the Bay of Crabs, but has shown no interest in continuing the research.
In looking to distant history, the Ark of Fanir was said to be piloted by Fanir himself. All who wished to travel were welcome upon his ark, and he visited all parts of all worlds. Fanir left the ark to join the battle against Odos, God of Murder, when he began his rampage across Lume, promising his followers that he would sail with them again soon. But following the Divine Accord Fanir was forced to leave Lume along with the other divine, and so the ark remained where he left it, awaiting a voyage never to come.
