Secret Inscription X

In the temple of Pluto-Osiris in Rakota, the party discovered a smashed stela and another inscription. Laura pieced the Stela back together to reveal the letter "I" in the lower part of the stela's center. The text of the inscription reads:
X
But their victory brought them to the attention of the god of Remus, who immediately recognized the spark of divinity in them, and saw in their features those of his lovely wife. And Remus’ god was angry. He appeared to Remus and demanded that all Hill Folk must now worship him, in gratitude for the victory. Although Remus and his men agreed, when he advised his brother to do this, Romulus refused, believing that only through the power of the goddess, could their people hold fast in the Seven Hills. His god then goaded Remus into action, and the two brothers fought, along with their men.

In the battle, Romulus was proven right: the goddess sent protection in the person of her greatest Paladin, and her power proved stronger than the might of Remus’ god. So it was that Remus was cut down. When they saw this, Remus' men surrendered, joining with those under Romulus, who decided that they would begin a new settlement there, on what became known as Paladin’s Hill. At the Paladin’s instructions, he erected a shrine to the goddess there, and named his city after her, dedicating it to her as their patroness. But the goddess appeared to the Paladin in a dream, and warned her that although the goddess would always be the city's protector, a powerful magic existed which could master even the gods. She warned that a spell using the city's name could interdict her from coming to her people’s aid. They must never speak this name, lest an enemy use the knowledge to destroy the city.
