Timber Gnome
Timber gnomes have a natural skill with illusion magic, and are innately fast and stealthy. Compared with the more gregarious Shale gnomes, Timber gnomes are rare and reclusive. They live in hard-to-locate conclaves in the deepest woods, using illusions and trickery to conceal their homes from outsiders. Timber gnomes tend to be friendly with other woodland creatures, such as elves and good fey. These gnomes also befriend small forest animals and rely on them for information about threats that might prowl their lands. Timber gnomes are able to communicate with these animals through simple gestures or vocalizations. As a result, Timber gnomes often keep an animal such as a squirrel, badger, rabbit, mole, woodpecker, or similar animal, as a pet.
The vast majority of Timber gnomes live on the island of Silaxia, along with their neighbors, the Halflings. Few Timber gnomes have wandered onto the mainland, and as a result they are rarely seen in the Empire. However, a handful of them have migrated into the various forests of the Empire, even including some on the Latin peninsula itself. These gnomes tend to get on particularly well with Grey Elves, the primary elves one finds inside the Empire's borders.
Timber gnomes gain +1 to their Dexterity score, in addition to other racial bonuses, and have the ability to cast the cantrip Minor Illusion.
