The Third Elven Age is current time, EA III, the current year is 558. The adventuring group Arma Lucis adventured from the years 554-558.
Reign of the Third Elven dynasty.
Arma Lucis, gathered here for the first time. Illianna, Rehati, Nennoh, Aedren and Ein. Later that day, they would travel across the border and save the soul survivor of an attack on the Elven community of Aryn Springs.
Arma Lucis arrives about a week after the burning of Aryn Springs, to Delenor, the Town of Opportunity. Here they bring the young girl, Faera, they rescued to her aunt and uncle. Kelren, her uncle and Telrissa her aunt, welcome Faera and Arma Lucis into their homes. Arma Lucis eventually meets the town mayor, where they work out a contract to take care of a group of wolves that has been terrorizing a local trade route, and also killed two merchants. When they arrive, they discover that the local wolves have actually been corrupted with necrotic energy.
After Defeating a pack of winter wolves, corrupted by necrotic energies. The group reconvenes with the mayor and the local Holster, Kelren. Kelren reveals that his brother and sister in law were involved in a faction called 'The Forgotten'. This group hunts and kills those who partake in necromancy and blood magic. He lets Arma Lucis know that he thinks that they might have been involved with the recent events of undead popping up. Later this night, Faera is kidnapped by a zombie version of her father and presumably brought back to Aryn Springs. Arma Lucis follows suit and chases Faera's father back.
Arma Lucis gives chase to Faera's undead father back to Aryn Springs. There they find that the buildings are all but ash now and there are no signs of Faera. Upon searching the grounds and Illiyana using her divine sense and discovering a trail of necrotic energy, they find an iron cellar door under a building's remains. They traverse into the cellar below and find Faera, along with her ghoulish father and ghostly mother. They discover the undead parents are trying to use Faera's body as a vessel to continue their hunt for the necromancer that cursed them and burned Aryn Springs. Arma Lucis narrowly defeats the parents and rescues Faera for a second time. They rest for the night and promptly return her to her Kelren and Telrissa after they return to Delenor.
After a short journey with their new horses, courtesy of Kelren in Delenor, Arma Lucis travels to the mining community of Kheledale and settles in at the Miner's Cough Inn. There they meet Dale Heartholme and Buerin Broadstone, the foreman in charge of the truesilver mines. They learn that morale for the miner's has been low in recent events due to a kobold incursion from the Underdark into the local mining shafts. Locals miner's have claimed that the kobolds are using dark magic and that many of the people assaulted by them are suffering from symptoms of necrotic damage. Arma Lucis now more experienced, takes on the task of clearing the mine for the Dale and Buerin. When they arrive there, there is a caster Kobold that points to the groups Druid, Nennoh, and yells 'Kill the moon child'. After a hard fought battle, the group defeats the kobolds and a young troll who joined the fray mid fight. The group remains curious how the Kobolds knew ahead of time that Nennoh was a druid, or why they wanted her dead... Arma Lucis
Arma Lucis, along with Dale and Buerin throw a small celebration in the local tavern. During drinks and conversation, Dale brings up with Buerin and the group that he thinks the mayor Viryn Nelrif is up to something. Dale says that locals mining ledgers had been taken by the mayor and that every so often, truesilver bars are going missing. These bars are later broken down and produced into Elleryn's currency, which alarms the group upon hearing. The group is also told that local miner's who have died on the job, have not received the death benefits, promised to their living families. They continue on form the conversation and Nennoh leaves for the night with Dale. Rehati, the monk and Aedren the Rogue from Arma Lucis decide to investigate the mayor's estate the next morning. After the climb a tree on his property and look in the window, they notice the Mayor is talking to a large cloaked figure. Upon being noticed, the large figure disappears into a cloud of mist. Rehati and Aedren luckily escape unidentified. Nennoh awakens in Dale's bed, to find that he is not there. She searches for him for awhile and notices he is nowhere to be found. Nennoh returns to the inn to find Arma Lucis and Buerin enjoying a hearty breakfast. When she notifies him, the group splits into two groups to investigate the mayor's estate. Illianna, Nennoh and Ein go to introduce themselves to the mayor, while Aedren and Rehait search the estate for Dale. The introduction group meets Lyla, Viryn's assitant, who has an odd gleaming necklace on her. They main group begins to meet in Viryn's office as Aedren and Rehati discover Dale unconscious in a closet, in the guest bedroom. As Ein leaves the introduction meeting, Lyla locks him out, while Illianna and Nennoh discover Viryn's true intentions with Dale and proceed to fight him. Rehati and Aedren ascend the tree outside once more and break through the mayor's window to join the battle. The group apprehends the mayor and as they are trying to question him, he begins to bite out his tongue. Nennoh put's his favorite letter opener through his eye. The group meanwhile discovers that his safe is stashed with truesilver bars that were stolen from the shipments. They also discover a letter with secret writing, that gives details of a secret faction, known only as The Benefactors.
Buerin tells Arma Lucis of an old dwarven military installation, The Braug Fort, south of the town of Palewood. Arma Lucis arrives in Kheledale with a letter they received from Buerin Broadstone, to give to his cousin Dagen Stonejaw. They find his home on the southern edge of Palewood and give him the letter. After reading the contents, Dagen starts to gather his supplies, almost in an erratic manner and leaves Palewood. The group, feeling confused, decides to head to a local tavern to get rest and food for the night. They arrive at the Pale Ale Inn and settle in for the night. After a few hours into the night, an elven military unit led by a male elf, Lyn, arrives with a dozen wounded men and women. Apparently their group had been caught off guard from a few well place fireballs from a hidden attacker. Karen Whitehall and Marcus, the Inn staff, help tend to the wounded and place some of them in a few of the rooms. Apparently Lyn's unit, under orders of Prince Darius, are also looking for a necromancer. Similar to the events that have been leading up to Arma Lucis' recent predicaments.
After a rest at the Pale Ale Inn, the group arrives after a long journey to the Braug Fort in search for magical items and possible traces of the necromancer terrorizing the local area. Upon arriving, the group encounters a small group of Kobolds and Basilisks. After a nearly fatal encounter, the group takes some basilisk eggs and finds a bunker inside the Braug Fort. There they find a Spectator Beholderkin, who is calling himself Phillip and a petrified Githyanki monk. It seems this spectator is calling himself Phillip and the petrified victim Other Phillip. After a longwinded conversation and successful persuasion, the group is allowed to unpetrify Other Phillip and take him with them. The group affectionately refers to this otherworldly monk as 'Rocky' and never actually learn his real name.... After a long rest, the Elven Officer Lyn, rides up to the Braug Fort requesting their assistance. He has arrived with a team of horses in tow. So that the Arma Lucis may accompany him back to Palewood. When the group inquires about him searching for them, they learn that Palewood has been surrounded by an army Skeletons and other undead....
Arma Lucis, along with Scouting Officer Lyn arrive near Palewood and behold from a mile or so away the amassed force around the wood crafting community. Nearly 1600 skeletons surrounded he fated community. The small town barely able to hold off the forces. Arma Lucis and Lyn ride through the horde to reach the front gate of the town. Luckily escaping being pulled from their mounts and a well placed Channel Divinity from the Light Cleric, Raine, the skeletons near the gate are vaporized near the front gate, giving them a moment to pull into the town safely. After getting into town, Teryl the militia captain and Scouting Officer Lyn brief them on the current situation...
The undead assault was led by a human historian who studied early necromancy. In attempt to seek revenge on the local Elven military. Arma Lucis in it's early days, assisted the local military and militia in defeating Amon, stopping his undead horde in its tracks.
Arma Lucis battles through the horde of skeletons with the assistance of the local militia. They find Amon, the Necromancer below the giant palewood tree at the center of the forest northwest of Palewood. Upon killing him they learn that Darius and his soldiers killed Amon's wife by mistake when they were out studying ancient ruins.
Arma Lucis travels to Tarynhall to look into their leads on The Benefactors. They search local inns for leads into people who might have clues into the group.
Arma Lucis receives a tip from the thieves guild that the Benefactors have been looking into spellcasters who specialize in transmutation. They meet a local half orc, by the name of Drago who is an acquaintance with a transmutation teacher.
Arma Lucis, minus Nennoh, who went to confer with local druids, comes to the arcane tower of Garon Sprigg. A transmutation master and half orc who resides in the Elleryn College. As the group arrives and chats with Garon Sprigg, he leads them around his tower showing them multiple creations. He locked Illiyana in a vault that had illusiory farm animals. Leaving Aedren, Rehati and Raine, accompanied by Drago to deal with Garon Sprigg who starts throwing fire balls and other spells. In the middle of the fight, Garon activates a summoning circle, which summons his master, a Rakshasa. The Rakshasa upon arriving, kills Garon Sprigg, fireballs the members in the room around him, plane shifts Rehati to the Shadow Plane and dimension doors away. Leaving Arma Lucis battered and beaten, in wake of the battle. They are quickly met by Liarel, War cleric of Ademenor, who has come to investigate the scene. Upon investigating the tower, they find papers that leads Liarel and the group are lead to believe that the Benefactors are very deeply seeded into the businesses and communities of Tarynhall.
After their defeat at the hands of the Rahkshasa, Arma Lucis is not onto a lead that might help them get Rehati back from whichever plane she might have been sent to. The talk to a local priest Rus at the local Church of Averonne and inquire where he thinks a devil might send someone with plane shift. Unfortunately for them, Rus has no idea. He does however inquire with a mage that comes to his mass every week. Eric, a student at the Arcane College of Elleryn. Eric requires the group to get him the blood of a local dragon that lives in the mountain that Elleryn was build upon. Arma Lucis recruits the help of a local gnome hunter and Drago volunteers his services to get the blood from the young red dragon, Felfang. They venture into the mountain below and after a few close calls, they best the young dragon in combat. Nennoh drains a couple liters of blood in waterskins and harvests one of the dragon's incisors. Raine, being a dragonborn cleric of the goddess Averonne doesnt feel easy about doing this and she uses spare the dying to keep the dragon alive... When they return to Eric he explains that he needs the blood as both a conduit and fuel for his spell. He isn't quite powerful enough and the inherent magic in dragon blood helps him power up his needed spell. He uses the blood in the spell 'Contact Other Plane' to converse with Rehati's god, Rahs, to locate her position. He is reluctantly able to speak the words 'Shadow Plane' before his mind is nearly broken from the feedback of the spell. Arma Lucis, earlier sold the extra blood and incisor they didn't need to purchase a few plane shift scrolls, along with some promised favors to the seller. Illiana uses the plane shift scrolls to teleport to Rehati. She appears in a boat on black waters, and sees the shadowy form of Rahs, about to bring Rehati to the afterlife. Rahs allows Illiana to take Rehati, as Illiana barely makes the casting check to use the second use of the plane shift scroll. Rehati is returned, changed and tired from her nearly half a year alone in the shadow plane due to time dilation. Arma Lucis is whole...for now.
Aedren of Arma Lucis, looks for Thieve's Guild contracts and is met by a third party at a local tavern. He receives an assassination contract for a local lord. As he is sneaking out at night, Illiana and Rehati follow closely behind him and into the local sewers. When they catch up to and confront Aedren, he deceives them he is going to the lord's home for information and an item. They come with Aedren to keep him out of trouble. Upon breaking into the lord's estate, Aedren is able to cast his new spell sleep on the guards and they rush into the lord's room. They quickly learn the lord has a number of spells at his disposal, similar to the mayor Viryn who was apart of the Benefactors. Illiana yells at Aedren to keep the lord alive so they can question him. Immediately after she says this, Aedren puts a critical hit arrow into the lord's neck. Rehati attempts a medical check to pull the arrow out and critically fails...lodging the arrow further into the lord's neck. He bleeds out on his favorite rug. As the small group of Arma Lucis gathers information, they learn from paperwork on his desk, that he is part of the Benefactors, just as Garon Sprigg and Viryn....
The very next day, Arma Lucis is planning their next steps against the Rahkshasa and The Benefactors. After acquiring a few magical weapons from shopping and training up a few new skills they are met by a guild representative. He informs them that the Merchant Queen has heard of their deeds in defeating Garon Sprigg and providing information to the authorities via Liarel the War Cleric. They now head back to their keep that is now being provided from the Mercahnt Queen for the arrests of the Benefactors from the list found in Garon Sprigg's tower. As they arrive their, they are met by Drago who offers his services once again. The guild representative arrives and officially register's their guild/group name as Arma Lucis. They hold a small tournament to hire a few more hands for the keep. This tournament finds them four hirelings. Daerus, a Paladin, Granden, a Rogue, Lesnora, A fighter and Therdan, a shield fighter. Later that afternoon after the tournament, a bard arrives at the keep. He comes bearing a song of congratulations and sings of a tiefling that fell to another plane, as he gives a wry grin. He drops his guise and reveals himself as the Rahkshasa. A battle ensues with Arma Lucis with Drago and Granden at their side. In the ensuing conflict, the Rahkshasa uses plane shift once more and sends Drago to another plane. Illiana reacts against him with a critical divine smite and finishes his physical form. The Rahkshasa is gone....for now.
After their defeat of the Rahkshasa's physical form, Arma Lucis is now greeted by the Merchant Queen and one of her advisors in their keep. Her royal guard comes and secures the premises as her advisor lays out scrolls on their center table. The Queen explains she is not fond of devils and secret organizations disturbing the peace in her city. The advisor and queen explain that there is a book last sighted in the northlands that might contain the name of the Rahkshasa that attacked them. That way they might find a way to finally kill it. The advisor points out that the book might have been brought to the underdark underneath one of the mountains in the northlands. With their wizard friend Eric in a coma and Drago not in service of a god, the group currently has no choice but to wait to find out how to help him. They gather their supplies and head north to the border of Elleryn and the northlands.
After weeks of travel, Arma Lucis arrives at the border and leaves their horses, due to the terrain and harsh climates that await them. As they work their way into the northlands, they are informed by Elleryn Border legion that much of the north is split between giants, rivals barbarian clans, orcs and goliath clans. They have a skirmish with some hill giants on their second day into the north and realize that the enemies here are quite a bit hardier than those they fought before. When the rest in a small cave for the night, they awake the next morning surrounded by the Rautos Goliath clan. Outnumbered and intimidated by the clan, they are taken by the clan to nomad clan's current resting area.
When Arma Lucis arrives at the Rautos Clan's small settlement, they are confronted by the chieftan who demands to know their presence and purpose in the northlands. They explain they are looking for the underdark passage under one of the mountains. They are then briefed that the mountain they are looking for is surrounded by an orc clan and ruled over by a large white dragon referred to as the 'Winged Shadow'. Shadow flies over the north picking off animals and goliath clansmen for its meals quite often. Arma Lucis promises to remove the white dragon for them and the chieftan agrees to allow them to leave and has a goliath guide them to the mountain. As they are leaving they spot a silver dragonborn in one of their cages. Arma Lucis converses with him and learn that he is a folk hero, Azko Lar, a dragonborn from Raine's homeland of Dren Konar, he is a known dragonslayer and is often treated as a pariah by devout dragon worshippers in her homeland. They convince the Rautos clan that having a dragonslayer and his gear he came with will exponentially increase their odds of victory, with an overwhelming persuasion, they are also allowed to take Azko Lar with them to the confrontation.
Arma Lucis arrives at Mount Saxxorm, the home of Shadow, the Adult white dragon. They skilfully sneak past the orc encampment under cover of a snowstorm to the mouth of Shadow's lair. Here they fight the dragon and a hand full of half orcs that are guarding him. It is a tumultuous battle, at one point the fighter Ein is impaled by a large icicle from Shadow's lair. Ein, with the help of some magic healing from Raine and Azko Lar, is able to recover and throw his Flametongue spear and critically wound the white dragon. The orc tribe rushes to the lair to find the dragon has been killed. The leader approaches the group and recognizes Rehati. The orc leader is a half orc paladin, by the name of Lakein, who grew up with Rehati in a monk temple years ago, that was just near the border of the Northlands. After a quick reunion, Lakein calls off his clansmen and thanks Arma Lucis for freeing the Grey Orcs from Shadow. Arma Lucis recovers from the battle, Rehati bids farewell to Lakein and they head into the underdark via a passage in Shadow's Lair.
Arma Lucis ventures warily into the Underdark in search for a magic tome. As they venture miles under the surface, they find creatures like Cloakers, subterranean water monsters and elementals. But one of their largest problem they encounter is a small encampment of Duergar who have set up camp along the path further into the caverns. They fight through a few groups of Duergar, Underdark giants, ogres and giant spiders. They rest for a bit after clearing a small military installation. When they go further down the cavern, there is a whole town of Duergar and who have devils patrolling through their town. Bone devils, spine devils and wing devils working in tandem with the Duergar. Arma Lucis agrees to look for a passage around the settlement, as they do not want to deal with large number enemies residing there.
As Arma Lucis travels further down, they start to recognize pylons that have been in the settlements and guard installations. After further investigation they discover that the Duergar are being mind controlled through the pylons, as an extension of some thing's power. Aedren in an expirement, stabs a Duergar in the back of the neck, killing it. The group revivify's the Duergar and he passes his saving throw against the pylon's mind control. Illiana being able to speak dwarven, converses with the Duegar after they calm him down. They learn that an Elder Brain and the Mindflayers have control of the underdark underneath Mount Saxxorm. They make a temporary truce with the Duergar if he guides them to the Mindflayers and Arma Lucis agrees to take care the Mindflayers. The Duergar is also able to confirm that the head Mindflayer has a dark magical tome. Confirming Arma Lucis' lead, the Duergar leads them further into the dark
Arma Lucis has travelled further down with Azko Lar and the Duergar at their side. The Duegar leads them to the temple where the Mind Flayers and Elder Brain reside. They work their way down through the temple, defeating a numerous amount of devils and a few Mindflayers. Finally they come to a room that has an active teleportation circle and dozens upon dozens of pages scattered everywhere. Many pages detailing dark rituals and spells. The Duergar confirms this is the lab that the Ultrathid resides. The group look at each other and run through the teleportation portal. As they arrive on the other side of the circle, they appear on a desolate gray landscape, surrounded by black darkness, except for a single large blue point far off in the sky. They have been teleported to the moon and see a tall lengthy figure floating into a temple on the moon's surface.
Arma Lucis now having escaped the Underdark, heads back south towards the border of Elleryn to obtain transport to Tarynhall to meet with Alyena and take care of the Rahkshasa working with the benefactors. Azko Lar thanks the group for their help in killing the white dragon and for saving him from the Rautos clan. He leaves for Illendor, in search of a green dragon, terrorizing the lands....
As Arma Lucis arrives on the moon, the chase the figure they see walking into the temple with Azko Lar and the Duergar trailing behind them. They get into the Moon Temple, just as the Ulrathid Mind Flayer is placing a key into a stone coffin into the temple. The coffin pops open and mist starts to pour out. The group engages the Mindflayer in combat. The creature opens up with a lightning bolt that grazes Asko Lar and burns a hole through the Duergar's chest. In the midst of combat, the Mindflayer puts up an invisible wall and begins to fight Illiana and Nennoh by itself as the rest of the group watches in horror. Asko Lar is able to find a space in the wall and is able to Misty Step in to help land the final blow against the Mindflayer. Arma Lucis and Azko Lar look over to where the mist was pouring out and find it has assembled into a male elf. He has dark pale skin, dark veins and refers to himself as Aethlyn. He talks to the group for a few short minutes in an almost amnesia like state and he seems to realize who he is mid conversation, from a successful intelligence throw. Aethlyn plane shifts off the moon and disappears from sight.
With the Mindflayer defeated and Aethlyn gone from the moon, Arma Lucis retrieves the Book of the Seven Nights off the Mindflayer's body. They unfortunately don't have the materials to revive the Duergar who became their ally, so they bury his body on the moon. As the group walks back out of the teleportation circle, they copy the circle runes on paper for both sides and take the gems that comprised the circle. In the short while they were doing this, they start to hear screams from Duergar and spells being shot from Mindflayers in the Underdark temple. The devils controlled by the Mindflayer with the tome, are now on the loose. Arma Lucis makes a mad dash out of the Underdark to make a speedy escape. Little do they know, their ally Azko Lar took something off the body of the Mindflayer...
Arma Lucis, after arriving back notifies Alyena and proceeds to their keep, with their new hires on hand. Together they use the book to locate the Rahkshasa's name, Kalax, the deceiver. Upon speaking his name, he appears in their keep to do battle. Together, they defeat his physical vessel, but unfortunately are not able to learn Drago's location from him as Kalax laughs, melting in a puddle of black ichor. After this, the group takes four months to gather their assests, upgrade their now new keeps defenses and establish themselves as local heroes.
After Arma Lucis has spent four months, building onto their keep, doing quests and forging new weapons, they receive word from a courier. This courier has delivered a message from the Elleryn Border Legion. The Legion received word that Azko Lar, Arma Lucis ally, had gone missing in the human kingdom of Illendor. The group, decidedly leaves town in search for their ally and unknowingly into unfortunate circumstances....
As Arma Lucis makes their way through Illendor, in search of clues for Azko Lar, they stop through the town of Ponton. There they discover that there are teenagers that are turning into cambions. The group investigates, thinking it would lead them to Azko Lar if he investigated as well. In there search they fight a small group of Cambions and travel back to the town of Panival along the Elleryn border. In Ponton, they meet Gallen, a sorcerer who has recently come into immense power. They reluctantly allow him to join and together they discover a demon prince hiding nearby, the orchestrater and father of these children becoming cambions. Together they narrowly defeat the prince and send him back to the Abyss.
Arma Lucis and their new ally Gallen, hot on the trail of a new lead on Azko Lar, travel a few days Northeast of Ponton to discover a cavern below a swamp. A villager said they had seen a Dragonborn matching Azko Lars description traveling nearby and that a green dragon might ne hiding here as well. The group prepares for a large scale fight and heads into the dark for Azko Lar.
The group ventures down into the cavern and discovers two things. A large carcass of a dead dragon and Azko Lar chained up with parts of his skin sloughing off. As they begin to release him, they see he is beginning to change into a mind flayer AND they are ambushed by Slaad who want him to become their Chaos Brain. Arma Lucis with well placed spells by Gallen and Nennoh, defeat the slaad and Rayne casts a greater restoration on Azko Lar, saving him from a near transformation. They later learn that Azko Lar, stole a mind flayer tadpole to use on a dragon to try and kill it...
Arma Lucis and Azko Lar in tow, decide to visit Illiana's hometown of Welfall and her Temple of Valinae. While in the area they meet her neice and father. They also pick up a quest to hunt down a pirate faction leader. Arma Lucis hires a ship and within a short week, finds the pirate docking island and stealthily kills the pirate leader. They return to Welfall and collect their reward from the mercenary leader who offers them full time work, which they respectfully decline.
After Arma Lucis' pirate slaying adventures, Azko Lar decides to head back to his homeland and Arma Lucis decides to ride to Darendal, where they meet a gnome Gibbet who offers to make an airship for them if they retrieve sky stones from the Northlands. Arma Lucis passes through the town of Myrar Hill, the lord over here is brother in law to the human king. The briefly meet the lord and notice his right hand seems very familiar. After the meeting the are led through town, where they discover the Lord's right hand man, is Aethlyn...the man from the coffin on the moon.
Arma Lucis face to face with Aethlyn, realize that they are outnumbered. Illiana senses dozens of evil presences surrounding them. Aehtlyn makes a remark about Illiana's neice, before he turns and casts disintegrate on a large pot sitting against a building in a back alley. Aethlyn warns them they need to leave the area for at least four months after his show of power.... Realizing they are outmatched, they make a hasty retreat out of Myrar Hill. Their horses have disappeared, they hop into a magic shop and discover that she and many other citizens are under mind control of Aethlyn and his cohorts. They knock the shopkeeper out and hop in her wagon and leave Myrar Hill...to warn Darendal.
Arma Lucis heads to Darendal, to warn King Johannas of a looming threat in Myrar Hill. The shopkeeper they took from Myrar hill informs the group that Aethlyn and his cohorts are vampires. When they present the information for Johannas and his Palace Guard Captain, Hargreave, they test all the troops there with holy water. They root out one of the palace guards and kill the vampire in the king's court. Johannas tells the group of the 'Scions of Power' and that they might aid in the fight against Aethlyn. He grants them the weapon, Fenrir's Demise, to Nennoh.
The group looks far and wide for clues to the Scions. They are informed in Darendal of an ancient pillar, said to be a gate to a magical library. They find a stone pillar four days southeast of Illdendor's captiol city and figured out puzzle to unlock it. A portal opens to a extra planar library, where they meet a sphinx, who tells them of the location of River’s Wind and Averonne’s Grace. The sphinx also gifts them with the spiritual key to River's Wind. The group decides to head to the Northlands in search for River's Wind. Into the Giant War of the Northlands....
Arma Lucis returns to the Northlands in search of the Scion, River's Wind. Upon arriving at the border, they meet with Illendor's border legion and they learn that the cold wastelands has fallen into war between the giants, human barbarians and the goliath clans. Arma Lucis heads out to meet the Rautos Clan to learn how they can help the northern clans.
The Rautos Clan welcome Arma Lucis to meet their leader Zor. Upon arriving, Arma Lucis learns that the storm giant, King Apanath, is waging war to enslave all races he deems inferior in the Northlands. With the dragon, Winged Shadow gone, Apanath can now send his forces throughout the cold north uncontested. Later, Arma Lucis convenes with the Elven Border Legion and Ein of Arma Lucis offers his services to lead part of the Elven troops against Apanath's giant lieutenants. Over the span of the next month, Ein and Arma Lucis lead a successful campaign against two of Apanath's lieutenants and kill them.
This specific day in history two major events occurred. The first, Ein led his forces with Arma Lucis to the top of a glacier that Apanath's final lieutenant, Laufi the Fire Giant, and his forces resided. Arma Lucis and it's forces made quick work of Laufi's soldiers, but Laufi in a desperate act, thrust his flaming black iron sword into the glacier, causing it to collapse. In the wake of the glacier collapsing, only Ein was able to pull himself free in time to continue his battle with Laufi. With little assistance, Ein was able to finish the fight against Laufi in a duel for the ages. Now, the second, upon defeating Laufi, Illiana felt a pull in her chest and the area around the collapsed glacier began to hum. After the group move a few large pieces of ice, they discovered the door to the Scion, River's Wind. Where Illiana was able to enter with the key given to her by the Sphinx. There she reclaimed the holy avenger, River's Wind.
On this day in history, Arma Lucis led a small army against Apanath's remaining forces to raid the interior of Mt.Saxxorm where King Apanath had secured himself. Upon fighting their way into Apanath's throne room, they found the giant king, strengthening himself with an elemental rift. The following fight was a bloody encounter, that resulted in Gallen losing a leg, Illiana's face was nearly cut open and lost her sight in one of her eyes temporarily and Nennoh's ribcage was nearly crushed. The fight ended when Illiana landed a critical blow to Apanath, causing him to fall on his sword, Razor of Night. The Storm King's vessel shattered as he fell, releasing his awesome power into the area around him. The lightning storm the poured forth from him enveloped Illiana, granting her the Storm King's Blessing. The blessing strengthened her constitution and made her resistant to lightning. After Ein attuned to the fallen king's sword, he took up Razor of Night. Arma Lucis was successful in defeating the king and Ein was declared a lord of Elleryn. Arma Lucis also harvests some sky stones from the top of Mt.Saxxorm, which they have taken back and shipped to Darendal to Gibbet for an airship.
Arma Lucis returns to Illendor and delivers news to the king that they assisted in the Giant War in the Northlands and that they retrieved the sword, River's Wind, to confront Aethlyn. Arma Lucis is able to further convince the King to grant them any additional help that might assist them. With the help of Gallen's silver tongue, the King of Darendal presents them with Fenrir's Demise and two head paladins from his castle guard. An oathbow scion that belonged to the hero Griswald over a hundred years previous. With Fenrir's Demise and River's Wind in hand, Arma Lucis travels to Myrar Hill to confront the vampire lord. The group is able to infiltrate and bluff their way through Myrar Hill until they are escorted to the audience chamber. Here they confront Aethlyn in a bloody battle. They fight off his vampire servants and Gallen keeps ground with counterspells against Aethlyn magic. Near the end of the fight, Rehati is targeted by Aethlyn's vampire ability: Soul Drain. This results in her death outright and Arma Lucis narrowly defeating him afterwards with a well placed smite from Illiana and her new sword. Arma Lucis mourns their friend's death and desperately begin a search for anything that might heal her.
While Arma Lucis is looking for a way to revive Rehati, they drugged and awake to her mother Ness, cold with anguish, wondering what happened to her daughter. It is explained to Ness that they had killed Aethlyn, a vampire lord but before his death he landed a killing blow against Rehati. Ness asks to be taken to her daughter and upon arriving in Darendal, they discover that Rehati rose from her death as a vampire thrall and attacked the priest watching over her body. Together, Arma Lucis and Ness track down Rehati. They find her in a cave with pile of deer and a bear lying dead outside of a cave. Ness lands the final blow against her daughter and they burn her body to put her to rest. With her soul unable to return to her body, Rehati is put to her final resting place. Little does Arma Lucis know, Ness vows to return her daughter to life, no matter the cost....
Arma Lucis returns to their keep in Elleryn. They deliver news of the Giant War, the defeat of Aethlyn and the death of Rehati to the merchant queen, Alyena. Ein is formally awarded his title of Lord and a banquet is held in Arma Lucis' honor and to commemorate Rehati's life and death. After the banquet, Arma Lucis and Ness take some time for themselves over the next 3 months. After they return from their hiatus, their airship is delivered to their keep in Elleryn. One of Alyena's spies also informs Arma Lucis of an island base of the Benefactors and sightings of Garon Sprigg off the coast of Illendor. The heroes, now better equipped and some what recovered from the loss of their friend, head out to investigate.
Arma Lucis climbs aboard their new airship, developed by Gibbit from Darendal and proceed to fly out to an island off the coast to Illendor to investigate the Merchant Queen's information. The members of Arma Lucis worry that the Benefactors are developing a new weapon or monster to unleash upon the continent. When they arrive, they discover an island of glass and trees that drink absorb the blood of unfortunate visitors and animals. They believe the island to be near uninhabitable, until they find a stone structure with large stone doors that are seemingly locked. As they approach, an illusory image of Garon Sprigg, who was believed dead, appears before them and taunts them into traversing his dungeon. The group already apprehensive, all agree to see what they can find and if it leads to nowhere, agree to leave immediately. Arma Lucis traverses the dungeon, solving puzzles to proceed and rests for a time after they had expended a majority of their spells and abilities. After the group is fully rested, the descend into a new part of the dungeon and discover a number of glass containers large enough to hold a standard humanoid. These containers have occasional masses of flesh and intellect devourers inside of them. After they approach the final door and blast it open with a well placed fireball, the smoke clears. They are face to face, with people identical to some of the original members. A clone of Nennoh, Rayne, Ein and Illiyana await them in the laboratory beyond the door. At their feet, is Garon Sprigg, dead once again. Every one of the clones wears a gemstone ring containing an Amethyst. The clones initiate combat against Arma Lucis in what ends up being a surprising turn of events. The clones quickly learn from Arma Lucis and develop powers nearly equivalent to them during the span of the fight. Ness casts Hold Person on Rayne's clone, the clone Ein and Illiyana are dispatched, while the clone of Nennoh tries to wildshape into a giant scorpion. She is quickly shut down by Gallen, who uses the spell storing ring previously owned by Aethlyn and casts Disintegrate out of the ring, curtesy of Aethlyn being a higher spellcaster at that current time. The group inspects the room behind the laboratory and discovers a 7 foot pylon made of Amethyst as well. After Gallen and Nennoh spend time looking over the inscribed runes, they find it is linked to the rings worn by the clones. The group disables the pylon by casting dispel magic and they try to interrogate Rayne's clone to see if she knows anything. She responds with hostility and tries to attack them after Hold Person wears off. Ein and Illiyana respond by quickly dispatching her. When the final breath leaves her body, the amethyst ring on her hand glows. Gallen casts identify and discovers, Rayne's clone, had her consciousness stored into the ring upon death. After inspecting the other clone's rings, they discover the other ring's are dull colored and inert. Arma Lucis comes to the realization that the other clone's minds had escaped to a different location, unknown to them. They look at each in horror, realizing there are clones of Ein, Illiyana and Nennoh.
After their visit to the Island of Glass, Arma Lucis heads towards Darendal. They warn the king and his court that if their group should arrive again in Darendal, without forewarning them of their return, that the king should jail and secure them. The further explain that there are imposters wandering around wearing their faces. Arma Lucis further asks if they can use the King's Library to search for any further clues in their search for the Scions. They discover there is the Staff of Averonne in Dren Konar, a Hand of Kwll in a temple in Elleryn and they learn of a set of armor with a sword, referred to as Arlain's Armaments. The group asks around Darendal if anyone knows more about Arlain and meets a knight by the name of Delial. Ein approaches him and sees he is wearing an ancient set of armor and inquires about it. Delial lies to Ein about saying he got it from a friend. Gallen walks up to Delial and casts identify and discovers it is in fact Arlain's Plate. Delial strikes out at Gallen and a duel between Ein and the Paladin finishes with Ein quickly outpacing and disarming him. Ein takes the armor from Delial, unknowingly putting Delial on a path of revenge towards him.
Arma Lucis decides to split up around 4 months and search the world for the scions. Ness takes this time to craft herself a powerful Warlock Rapier, a Nine Lives Stealer. Ein, Illiyana and Rayne decide to upgrade their keep in Tarynhall and fortify it a bit, while Gallen helps Ness enchant a few other items over the teams break. Nennoh takes time to head back toward the spire that brought Arma Lucis to the demiplane of the Sphinx. She spends her time there studying history and reading about ancient kingdoms and items. When they return from their break, the Merchant Queen has sent for the party to gather in Tarynhall once more, upon learning more from her spies. The Queen has received rumors that Ein, Illiyana and Nennoh were spotted boarding a boat into the south sea. The group immediately determines the clones have planning and most likely discovered something in the south sea. Arma Lucis departs Tarynhall immediately in a desperate chase.
Arma Lucis, in chase of the clones, a curse left by the benefactors. Fly their airship across the sea, hoping to catch up to them. Illianna, keeping safe the Tome of Seven Nights in her bag of holding. Ein stays with the airship, along with Lesnora and Granden. The rest of the party arrives at an island and finds that the inhabitants, possibly a cult of some sort, have been massacred. The party follows the trail of blood and bodies to a ritual site. In the distance they wait and observe, not sure of how to proceed. They notice a green dragonborn in chainmail, Illianna's clone holding a silver shifting sword and Nennoh's clone at the center of a hill, with a bright blue light bursting from the hill into the sky. As the group watches on for a few moments, Illianna looks down and sees the clasp for her bag of holding is open. She reaches into the bag, willing for it to give her the Book of Seven Nights, only for nothing to come out. She looks around and asks about the group. She activates her paladin ability to Detect Evil and notices there are invisible evil entities walking about. As she shouts to the group to advance, the blue light fades and a torrent of bats explodes forth into the sky and hangs above the area. Nennoh's clone turns around and is holding a dark tome, similar in design to the Book of Seven Nights. In the following battle, Nennoh's clone, (Nega-Nennoh) referred to later as the Dark Seer, bombards Arma Lucis with Necrotic spells from a distance and traps Nennoh in a Wall of Fire with Rayne. Ness is knocked unconscious shortly after. Illianna fights on as the last Arma Lucis combatant standing. She strikes savage blows to both the Dark Seer and finishes off one of the hags. A moment later, Rayne falls unconscious in the wall of fire and Nennoh is killed, turned to ash. In the final moments of combat, Illianna is polymorphed into a turtle and captured by the remaining hag. In this moment, Arma Lucis was defeated, Ein escapes with the airship, Granden being held back by Lesnora, screaming to go back for Ness. Ein goes on the run with the remaining members. The rest of Arma Lucis that was on the island, is held in an antimagic prison for a year. During this year, Arma Lucis is gone, over the days and months to come, Arma Tennebris, rises to power and puts a stranglehold onto the Elleryn royal family and begins to execute the first steps in their plan...

The group descends into the prison where structural damage has been caused. Granden, now more experienced in his role as a member of Arma Lucis leads the way, assassinating guards and soldiers that get in the groups way. Lesnora and Therdon find the first couple of rooms where Gallen and Illianna are being held captive. Lastly finding Ness and removing the bonds and traps keeping her secure. After being in prison for so long, the rescued members are exhausted and require being defended while the group makes its way to the courtyard. As they approach the escape point, they are surrounded by prison guards and a blood hag. Who has supernatural worms empowering her body and inhabiting a monstrous warrior who obeys her commands. Azko Lar who was piloting the ship, hops down into the battle to assist the rescue party. During the fight, the blood hag drains Therdon of his blood and he is killed in battle. Lesnora grabs Therdon's body and heads to the airship to escape after as Granden is being held back by the warrior and hag. Azko Lar raises his sword into the air, says a pray to his goddess and the obsidian on the sword flakes and falls away to reveal a platinum and bronze blade. Azko Lar becomes a conduit for all the lightning held in the sword, vaporizing himself, the hag and her warrior. Allowing for Arma Lucis to escape into the skies.
In an attempt to avoid detection by Elleryn or Illendor, the group heads toward Rayne's homeland. After they arrive, the group meets Rayne's father. Who asks if she has taken part in her ceremony yet and reminds her that another cycle is happening within the week.
