Ssylance, as a young child in the Red Sands, was chronically ill. When their village submitted to the Yuan-Ti Empire for water and medical aid, mutagen artificers approached them with an offer to undergo a transformation. Ssylance eagerly accepted, shedding their old form and name to become a new Yuan-Ti Abomination.
Today, Ssylance serves as the Yuan-Ti Ambassador to the Eight Arms of Balik. They use their abilities to manage the Censors of Balik, which dampens the effects of magic in the area, ensuring Balik's independence. They teach acolytes from the fortress to manage the censors, and also provides logistical support for planning fortifications. As an abomination, Ssylance also has the power to change their size and shape, allowing them to come to the defense of Balik as a partner in mutual interest.
