Praise in the Golden City

A common and well used practice in the Golden city to praise and honor those around you is to reach for their "Light". A custom hundreds of years in the making and originally used for just the goldensun family, The symbol has become widespread in the Golden City. The movement is a open hand reaching out and upwards towards the object of praise. For another to extend this praise towards you, they are both saying that they are below and are humbled by you, and that they strive to match you. Many will accompany this motion with the statement "Long may you glow". It is a great honor and those who receive it from another should feel great pride in the motion.
This motion also has a negative counterpart. Should an individual raise their open hand outward and upward, close their hand and throw their arm downward, it is a sign of great disrespect and is only utilized by those who wish to curse and insult to the highest degree. Should anyone do this motion towards you or you do it to another, you must be prepared for the consequences that may follow.
History
Orginally utilized to praise the Goldensun family exclusivly, the motion has been popularized and shared across the people, and is used exclusivly to show the utmost respect to the recipient. Hundred of years the culture of the city has extended this intense praise from the monarchy and extended towards the monopolists and heros of the Golden City. It should be noted that the goldensun family is forbidden from using this symbol as none hold more deserving praise above the Goldensun family.
