Ilin Illan

Ilin Illan is a large port kingdom south of Alshar. Crime is rampant here, especially among the lower classes. Thieves and pickpockets abound in the streets, and the guards rarely bother to do anything about it. Gangs of thugs roam the city, attacking anyone who gets in their way. Some of these gangs are led by powerful warlords, who control entire districts. These warlords are often responsible for the violence in the city.   In recent years, the government has tried to crack down on crime. However, these efforts have been largely unsuccessful because of corruption within the police force. This problem is made worse by the fact that most of the officers come from the lowest class of society. As a result, they don't care if they're arresting thieves or murderers.   Ilin Illan is also famous for its pirates. Pirates from all over the world flock to the city. They come to Ilin Illan to sell stolen goods, buy slaves, and conduct business that would otherwise be illegal elsewhere.   The people of Ilin Illan are descendants of immigrants from the southern lands. Over time, the natives of the city have intermarried with foreigners. Today, the majority of the population is mixed-race.   The people of Ilin Illan are divided into four major groups: the poor, the middle class, the rich, and the nobles. The poor are the majority of the population. They live in shantytowns outside of the city walls. They work in the factories and warehouses inside the city.   The middle class consists of merchants and traders. They own shops, taverns, and inns. They also run businesses that provide services to the wealthy.   The rich consist mainly of merchants and traders. They own mansions in the city and villas in the countryside. They employ servants and bodyguards.   The nobles are an elite group. They are descended from the original settlers of the city. Most of them are merchants, but some are also soldiers and warriors.   The economy of Ilin Illan is based on trade. Merchants from all over the world travel to the city to buy and sell goods. In exchange, they receive gold, silver, gems, spices, and exotic animals.   There is no official religion in Ilin Illan. Instead, there are many different cults that worship various gods and goddesses. The most popular cult is the Cult of the Dragon, which worships the dragon god Sairché.   The climate of Ilin Illan varies greatly depending on where you go. The coastal areas tend to be hot and humid. The inland regions are cooler and drier.   Ilin Illan was founded by the pirate queen Elissa. She came to the area in search of treasure. After she found none, she decided to settle down and build her own kingdom. The pirates of the region joined forces with her and helped her conquer the surrounding kingdoms.
