A predator from the Orslon region of
Rivell, where several different species used to exist. Thought to be related to Draconics, these reptiles stalk the deeper forest of Orslon requiring a full party to travel through.
Common features
A biped predator with strong leg muscles. Each of its three toes and fingers ends in sharp claws, with the middle toe more curved to make room for a more sickle claw. The head is similar to that of dragons with serrated teeth. Thick scales cover their bodies. They grow to around four to five feet tall
Maulvre often hunt in packs, using tapping from their sickle claw to coordinate with each other while hunting, using low-pitch calls to communicate normally.
Species
Maulvre hounds
The most common species of Maulvre is around the size of a child. Various tribes in the area have tamed this species and used them for hunting. Usually found in groups of up to ten, they follow pack alpha sniffing out and surrounding prey before closing in. The taming of this species has led to a bonding phenomenon where one of the creatures can bond with a humanoid, though it's unclear how or why this happens. They nest as a pack, in a tight circle where each member can watch the others for protection. A few wild groups do still exist
Black-Maulvre
The largest of the Maulvre species, Black-Maulvre often lives in pairs in the deeper forest. they grow to between seven to eight feet tall, as a result, they often walk around on all fours. They also have four distinct horns that have become highly prized by trophy hunters, the dangerous hunt however means only the most skilled succeed. They often nest
Cliff-glider
A now rare Maulvre that resides in the Rivellian Mountains. These are the smallest species of Maulvre, being only two to three feet with mild webbing between its arms and legs. Its claws are also slightly more hooked allowing it to climb easier. They nest on ridges in large colonies, leading to colonies being raided by multiple creatures. Attacks on towns around the mountains led to Rivell and the various Dwarf holds attacking the colonies leading to the species being on the brink of extinction.
