Chapter 2: Battle at the Blacksmith

General Summary

When our “heroes” awoke the following morning they slowly made their way down the stairs from their rooms they came across the curious sight of a game of chance being broken up by violence. Nothing uncommon about that normally, but the subject of the argument. Seems the dwarf at the center of it all was sensitive about his height, which was a tad lacking on closer inspection. Spalding and Belagar found this particularly amusing and decided to buy him a drink. A little bit of food, ale, and time later he decided he’d have a better time with them instead of hanging around with the drunks here.
The party made their way to the market where they could spend their ill gotten gains as well as dispose of the evidence. Naturally this led them to the local blacksmith, run by the dwarven member of the town council, Krumman Stonehammer. Belagar sold the glaive of Castor Brevelle and picked up a warhammer for himself that had a distinctive head in the shape of a gauntlet. Being a devout follower of Helm this called to him.
Dwossoth Honorfury, their new dwarven friend, browsed the wares available. He found a light hammer to his liking, but having a few too many drinks that morning was offended by the price and struck Krumman with the hammer after completing the purchase. As Dwossoth stepped from the shop, he felt a return blow from a hammer thrown by Krumman who had decided to teach this young pup a lesson.
The nearby guards, used to Krumman's temper encircled the shop forming a barrier between the crowd and the coming battle. The masses pushed in as close as they could, eager to see the cause of such excitement.
Seeing their new friend in trouble Nyx, Thonur, and Belagar leapt into action. Nyx fired an arrow from atop Thonur's hands before jumping over the guards’ heads. Thonur and Belagar kept the guards busy while Dwossoth and Nyx focused fire on Krumman .
While all this ruckus was going on Spalding took a moment to speak with the knife juggler who recently found a loss of interest in his performance at the fountain. He struck up a conversation looking for any sort of underground combat or sport.
Back to our battle Dwossoth and Nyx manage to knock Krumman unconscious while Thonur and Belagar incite the crowd to riot and our party uses the opportunity to slip away in the confusion to celebrate and lick their wounds back at the tavern.
