Urlyra

Welcome to the world of Urlyra. This site is designed to give people a place to delve further into this homebrew tabletop RPG setting and for players in my campaign to easily reference information. The setting is mostly designed around using Pathfinder 1st edition rules however, it can be adapted to just about any rule system. The site is still a work in progress and there are new articles being added all the time. Publishing new articles is prioritized by what the players in my campaign need access to first and then on what people ask for or what I feel like writing about. And now for a brief overview of the setting. Urlyra is a high fantasy setting in a world where dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures are still abundant throughout the world. Where you would normally see knights, farmers, or merchants using horses or oxen they would instead be using hadrosaurs as mounts or beasts of burden. Travelers are more concerned with packs of 1-1/2 foot tall velociraptors than they are wolves. Mastodons migrate throughout the grasslands and prides of smilodons prowl the savannahs.   All of these prehistoric creatures live alongside your standard fantasy races such as dwarves, elves, and gnomes. Some of these races might have a different culture or have variants unique to the setting. There are also plenty of new and unique races that call Urlyra home such as the moth-like leptkari or the sabertooth anthropomorphic saberfolk. Magic is prevalent throughout the world and there is a wide variety of religions in the world. Worship of the various deities, spirit worship of the Yulovi, and worshipping both celestial and infernal quasi-deities are all common.   Kaiju, creatures of titanic proportions that spend great periods of time in slumber or isolation, are also a major part of the world. The various kaiju have such a great influence that they often the focus of religions and worship. Like the deities of Urlyra, there is a unique political structure among the kaiju based on their individual personalities and goals. Some kaiju have formed alliances with other kaiju while there are others with intense rivalries or even mortal foes.   There is a diverse array of cultures through Urlyra. You have the feudal European themed countries of Kefrad and Tirdal. Okunan and Chudene are heavily influenced by Japanese and Chinese cultures while Huehla and Yahmeca both have strong Aztec and Olmec influences. I've tried to give references to the cultures and themes that most influenced my vision of each nation and its culture.   As previously mentioned, most of this world is based on the use of the 1st Edition Pathfinder ruleset. That being said, there are a handful of custom feats, domains, and creatures that I have created for the setting and will slowly add to the site as time permits. If someone chooses to run a campaign in this setting, these rules are definitely optional. As I develop and create more content, feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts. I enjoy getting feedback and look forward to hearing about what people find most interesting about the setting.
