Azaelenn
Goddess of Art and Passion
The daughter of Ollitor and Xalla, Azaelenn inherited her father's ability to command a room and her mother's charm and poise. She is the goddess of art, beauty, and passion. Azaelenn is often considered a wild and free-spirited, pursuing whatever catches her fancy at the time. She is unashamed of her desires and encourages others to break free of the mold. She has a deep admiration for all forms of art and encourages everyone to find some way to express themselves artistically. Azaelenn is usually portrayed as a beautiful, noble woman, typically elven or human, with a reddish hue to her skin and long red, orange, and yellow hair that shimmers and moves as if it is made of fire.
At one point, Azaelenn had both Sa'themar and Thozan attempting to win her affections. Sa'themar, the elven god of craftsmanship, and Thozan, the dwarven god of craftsmanship, competed with one another by presenting Azaelenn with increasingly powerful items and beautiful works of art. For her part, Azaelenn did nothing to dissuade either suitor and encouraged them. Her interests flitted back and forth between the two of them before she ultimately decided on Sa'themar. It is believed she chose Sa'themar not for his craftsmanship but because he wasn't as unbending and more open than Thozan. This caused a schism in the friendship between Sa'themar and Thozan, but in recent years, the two have started to repair their friendship.
Artists and free-spirited youths are most common among Azaelenn's followers. Noble women who desire to revolt against restrictive cultural norms also frequently worship her. Her priests teach various forms of art as a way of expressing their faith as well as their emotions. Azaelenn's clergy believe art is therapeutic and everyone can be an artist; it's just a matter of finding out what medium works best for each individual.
Places dedicated to the worship of Azaelenn are often works of art themselves. Carpenters and stonemasons put their unique architectural flair into each church, making no two churches the same. Painters and sculptures create beautiful murals and elegant statues to decorate the interiors. Many temples incorporate art museums and classrooms to teach multiple forms of art to anyone interested.
