Galgozaan

Infernal Duke of War and Conquest

A strategic mind, a relentless willpower, and a merciless approach to combat have served Galgozaan well amongst devilkind. His rise to power was swift and brutal. While he is not physically the strongest nor does he possess the sharpest mind, he does have the will and ruthless efficiency to make him a valued and respected member of the Infernal Council. As the Infernal Duke of War and Conquest, he is deferred to in all matters regarding the expansion of the Hells and maintaining their grip on outlying holds and territories. And while each Infernal Duke has their own personal armies, Galgozaan is often referred to as the General of the Infernal Legions.   The Infernal Duke of War and Conquest is cold and single-minded in his pursuit of military might. His voice carries the authority and power to cause even gods to pause and listen, even if just for a moment. His greatest attribute is his resolute resolve and unflinching dedication to the Hells. Even in defeat, Galgozaan remains calm and takes the failure as a lesson. On more than one occasion, Galgozaan has turned the tide of a war by taking a strategy that had been used to defeat him and made it his own, adapting and modifying it to fit his needs.   Galgozaan is most often worshipped by warlords, soldiers, and generals. The largest collection of his followers can be found in the hobgoblins of the Kergrem Empire where he is openly worshipped and one of the most venerated divine figures in their empire. His worshippers can be found elsewhere but it is not always looked kindly upon. Followers of Galgozaan believe strongly in the military hierarchy, following it religiously, and strive to advance within the ranks. For worshippers of Galgozaan, one's rank within their military carries due respect even from worshippers that belong to other militaries even if they are enemies. This custom is considered sacred to the point that most worshippers of Galgozaan familiarize themselves with the ranking systems of other militaries for the sole purpose of being able to pay the proper respects. Failure to do so can spread swiftly amongst Galgozaan's following and can result in severe punishment.   Places dedicated to the worship of Galgozaan often appear to be fortresses or garrisons all their own. Heavily defensible and built to endure a siege, these structures are often imposing and utilitarian. Clergy live a spartan and militaristic lifestyle and thus their places of worship appear devoid of comforts and lavish decoration. Armories, barracks, and training fields are common features for Galgozaan's churches and temples.
