Harplets (Harp - Lets)
Harplets are the spawn of Harpies they hatch from the litter produced by female Harpies. On average eight of the twenty littered manage to hatch, with only three of those eight successfully developing into a Harplet. Until they can fend for themselves, they're considered an excessive burden.
Until they develop into what humans consider teenagers, they're more bird-like in the body. Covered in feathers and have a significantly smaller wingspan. They're incapable to fly until their wings have grown strong enough to withstand their personal weight, which is why the bigger the Harpy, the greater the wingspan. However, there have been some unusual instances in which Harpies are grounded because their wings are extremely weak. Usually, this happens as a birthing defect, age, grave injury or sluggishness to take to the overhead skies.
Their arms are not completely developed at this stage either, sometimes being attached to the wing or free. As they develop the overwhelming majority of Harpies finds their arms forcibly separating from the wings. This is so that they enjoy more movement in all limbs.
Harplets are generally playful by nature when around other Harplets but are extremely aggressive to other unknown species. Their cruel talons are still sharp but will tend to leave non-life-threatening scratches.
