Puerto la Cruz
Puerto la Cruz, originally called Puerto de la Santa Cruz, in Spanish "The Holy Cross's Port", is a city located in the northeastern coast of Colombia.
Economy
Puerto la Cruz's commerce is heavily based around the shipbuilding industry and tourism, being also a key location for the Colombian Defense Forces. A noticeable amount of Colombian warships have been build in the City, with its shipbuilding industry becoming a very prominent part of local economy. Resources such as iron and copper can be found relatively close to the city, further helping the shipbuilding, electrical, and recently the aeronautical industries to settle in the area. The city is also said to host one of the biggest proivate ship numbers in the entire country, there being almost a ship per each 12 citizens. Most of these ships, however, are owned by people whose main residence and job is located in the interior of the country, sometimes commuting to their secondary homes in the city for a couple days at a time, also using their botes to go for a ride.Infrastructure
The city has military instalations that include one of the main military naval bases of the Colombian Navy, a military academy, numerous dry docks, a military airfield and military base, a military hospital, and a wildlife investigations centre. Other infrastructure include an International Airport, 2 cargo and passenger ports, an extensive amount of public transportation and highways connecting the city to others like Barcelona or Caracas, and an iron refinery located 57km from the city center.Credits: Top image: Colombian flag - thevaccinereaction.org, modified by Colombus
